When rolling up stats for my first FB ever, I couldn't turn down rolling 16 in both strength and blocking. All my equipment is in carrying but I can change that if needed.

I haven't spent any SPs yet so have all 30 from boosting. What should I focus on?

I guess a link to the player might be helpful..... http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1227387

Build is open.

Well do you want to be a rushing FB or a blocking FB? The builds are very different.
And do you want to be good early or good late? Because speed isn't a major or minor, when you decide to work it strongly impacts when you peak.

I decided blocking due to my initial rolls. What should I focus on to continue building him into a blocking FB? I was saving my 30SPs, so that when I go up a level, I would soft cap either blocking or strength. I would then wait a few levels to accumulate more skill points so I could then soft cap blocking/strength (whichever I didn't the first time).

I was also considering Intense training speed and agility to 20. But, maybe I would be better served to Intense train Vision and confidence? Like I said, this is my first FB. Any help is appreciated.

Easiest way to build a blocking FB (I feel) is to start by intense training strength/blocking, cap strength. Intense blocking/agility, cap blocking. Intense agility/speed, cap agility. Intense speed/stamina, cap speed. Should be done and have a solid player around level 20.

Just curious, why did you boost the same day you created him?

Very bad advice.

This is good advice overall, though I aim for slightly higher level to be productive at and thus would wait on capping Speed until much later. Speed does not gain from leveling so it is far less urgent to cap. I'd probably at least double cap Strength and/or Agility before touching Speed.

Mine has a different plan, too. But I figured I'd throw out an easy to follow plan that will be fun sooner, while not being a bad player. That plan will never be the starter on a top pro team, but it won't be a bad one.

Edit- I should mention that if you want to be better overall (but later), definitely follow Drakeborn's advice and double/triple cap things before putting points into speed. Also switch the training pair from agility/speed to agility/vision and consider capping vision at some point before speed. My plan last night was the simpler version, the stuff I'm saying now will have you not being productive until the mid to late 30s.

I would not put any points into blocking at all. FBs just need to do this:

1. Get to the defender quick
2. Knock him on his ass
3. Get to the next defender quickly
4. Repeat step 2 and 3

Blocking helps you hold your block longer. Unless your HB is SLOW, you don't need blocking.

My new FB has only 27 blocking and he had 119 pancakes last season. I second capped sttrength then second capped agility, then third capped strength then second capped speed.

Now all I do is train vision and confidence or stamina and confidence.

I just wanted to make a FB that will get to the defender fast and cause a car crash for the HB to slip by. Lots of times my FB can pancake the first guy then move to a second guy.

Blocking is a waste. Its like saying that if you are building a HB you should double cap speed then CARRYING before you cap agility.

P.S my FB was in his 20s and had 119 pancakes. Thats pretty productive. Plus, with double capped agility from not wasting anything in blocking, you become more productive faster, and you don;t have wasted SP. Agility and speed > blocking

How can a FB be productive with only 10 speed? That's what I rolled. Currently lvl 8 and have capped Strength and was going to cap Agility next. I'm also of the no blocking mindset, so I was only going to train it. Wouldn't the RB just fly by me w/ 10 speed?

No sure because he is on a gutted team with a swiss cheese line. its hard to tell. I just have him on that team for max PT so I can bring him to my team when I retire my old FB.

Most of our passes are from the single back and shotgun...so i am not really any help there.

Here is a play in which more blocking would have helped the FB
