Justin Tuck last season: in 8 games he had 0 sack

Osi Umeniyora in 2007 Pro Bowl season: in 9 games he had 0 sack

Michasel Strahan 2007: 10 sackless games
2005: 8 sackless games

Don't know what do you guys want from the DE position here in GLB. 200 sacks seasons?

The trouble is that in GLB, pressure that doesn't actually result in the QB hitting the turf doesn't seem to have any impact on completion - unlike in RL, where pressure is the driving force behind pass D and coverage is - to excuse an unfortunate pun - secondary.

Believe it or not, there are virtually no leagues out there that have every team with tackles on the same level of competition as the DEs. The problem is that those tackles that aren't that good are still easiliy able to stop the good DEs.

That an as stated above, unless you get a hurry or a sack there virtually is no production from the position.

Umm...

GLB isn't an NFL mirror image.

It's skewed for fun for many positions.

200 sacks? No... maybe for like a legendary season with a lot of gutted teams, that will happen once every 10 years. Fine with me.

50 sacks? Sure. Gutted teams + decent performance against good teams = about 50. Sounds right to me.

My DE has been useless I have 1 missed tackle and two hurries in 8 games. Not 1 tackle. I understand them not wanting 200 sack season but I have seen QB throw for 1000 yards a game averaging 300-400 yards passing almost every game. I have seen running backs run for 800 yards a game.

If your going to make stats more real do it for all positions.

400+ plays I have been involved in and not one tackle?

I should mention my link to the 200 sack season wasn't my actual thoughts.

DEs shouldn't get a sack every game, but a good DE should average a sack per game (shut out a few times, multi a few times). Pressure does need to have more of an effect, though.

How many sacks per game should occur for each team? Equal competition...40 passes per team.

3?

Average game, well built players of equal talent on both sides, moderate amount of passing? 2ish.

I think 2ish is a bit low...

I wonder what the NFL average is? and then we could bump it a bit because of the increased amount of plays in a GLB game.

Anyway...If you look at Western Europe Pro which is the most competitive league top to bottom in GLB. If you look at the top 30 teams in the league (remove the 2 awful 0-12 teams)...teams are averaging ~1.5 sacks per game. The worst passing offense in that league is throwing for over 200ypg.

I think defenses have a legitimate complaint that they need to be able to pressure the QB a bit more.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=2&statisticCategory=SACKS&conference=ALL&role=OPP&season=2008&seasonType=REG Sacks for last year by team
Top team in the NFL for sacks this season was the Cowboys, with 59 (3.69 per game). Average sacks for all teams was 32.34, which works out to 2 per team per game. Allowing for some GLB inflation, I wouldn't complain if the average number were up to 4 or 5, but the higher numbers should happen when a good D-line meets a worse (but still similarly talented) o-line. Top O-lines should shut teams out most games.

Best o-line last season was a tie between Denver and Tennessee, who allowed 12 each this season. At least 4 shut out games, probably more.

yea but the issue isn't really just sacks....

The 2 starting DEs on my team both are pretty balanced, one favored agility the other speed, both had great pass rush, but even when they played a good team and didn't get sacks, they still were a factor stopping the run. Not any more. I can pretty much promise myself that if we play an equal team, neither one of the DEs will make a single tackle and if they do, it is because the RB ran right into them.

Oh and the issue with people wanting realistic stats is the fact 99% of the leagues are not built like the NFL, where on any game day, either team can win. Plain and simple. It is 100x more like college or HS football where ungodly numbers like what GLB has is more common. I played on a HS team with two 2000 yard rushers in 10 games, I played on a college team with a 5,000 passing yards in 13 games.

Yeah some stats are ungodly that doesn't mean that when even teams play, a DE shouldn't be shut down to "balance" his stats to make them more NFL like
