D.T.'s who are good pass rushers can help out a Left End, on pass plays. You can see here that the teams are pretty equal competition. The players my own end and D.T. are going against are pretty much equal level. All the factors to discredit this play are thrown out the window. This is pretty much equal play, equal competition. Equal grounds.

If a D.T. can pressure a Quarterback into dropping closer to the Left ends side, it will help the LEFT END dramatically.

Everyone wants to build D.T.'s with high str then high agility and ignore speed to a certain extent. I think this is valid for Nose tackles , a long with getting Line General up to 9 or 10.

But for D.T.'s I think they need to be build more for pass rushing.

Here are a couple of plays I use for my example.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=300889&pbp_id=8833389

you can clearly see the Quarterback trying to run from the D.T. danger, only to run into the L.E.

I agree a good pass rushing DT will help force QB to his right or towards the LDE. However, that play is the weak I FB cross screen to the HB. It is designed for QB to go to that side.

Yeah, a good DT is probably more help to the RDE if he can go round at take up the OT and free the RDE.

Thats called stepping up in the pocket. DTs are more help when they bounce around to the outside and draw the OTs attetion, leaving the DE a path to the QB, given the HB or FB doesn't have them on a blocking assignment.

That was my next topic, but you said it here. basically a good pass rushing D.T. is essential for a better over all line.

a STRONG DT that can push the middle of the pocket back is a much much better helper for a DE
it forces the QB to move back in the pocket and allow the DE to use a wider and eaiser path
