Whats up with the linebackers lining up on the WRs? How the heck do you set this up in D AI??

You ran a Cover 3.

The CB's drop into deep zones, and since the WR's were uncovered, the LB's covered them.

Meh, wasn't sure who ran it. Didn't need any in-depth investigation.

It is weird that the SS lines up like that though.

No offense, but wasn't going to let the inference slide that I was the moron that couldn't read his own D AI. I am the moron that didn't spot the coverage shell though... so... meh.

Really weird. Anyway, in cover 3, the SS plays deep mid zone and FS goes for m2m... or am I mistaken?

It is the other way around.

Cover 0 = None
Cover 1 = FS in deep coverage
Cover 2 = FS and SS
Cover 3 = FS and 2 CB's
Cover 4 = FS, SS, and 2 CB's

I honestly don't know. While scouting today I seen a cover 3 with the SS in the deep middle. Every time I have ran it...the FS was in the deep middle.

It's somehow weird indeed, because I'm quite sure I had the SS in the deep middle when I tried this... that's actually the reason I dropped it, I didn't want the FS on m2m. Anyway... if you find this out, please let me know... I'm curious now lol

That is a Cover 3...with the FS and SS blitzing. You can see that the FS was back in the middle like he was going to cover the deep middle though.

It is the other way around.

I am not sure how the coverage logic steps through, but this formation/play uses the SS as deep cover consistently. It may have to do with the FS being the first choice for man coverage against WRs that are uncovered due to blitzes?

That was my eventual theory I came up with last night but didn't bother to post.

It's kind of odd though...I don't really know though. Kind of weird that it switches up the deep man, kind of unpredictably.

A while back I charted who covers whom under each scheme vs. 0-5 WRs with each combo of CBs/LBs as part of the mix.

The results led me to never use C3.
