So when i took over the "San Diego Aztecs" they were a winless fanchise....1 win (scrimage game) in franchise history....no stadium upgrade...no seat expansions..nothing

I made this post after ruffling quite a few feathers after i cleared my roster and was accused of gutting the team and a few other things.....

I just went back and looked at this post....while Houston is still the clear favorite....i thought this was pretty damn cool...

read on....

nah Jimo,,,,as i remembered it...you were quick to step up and defend my moves.....

just wanted to put this out there so all the newer/lower lvl teams can see with 2/3 years of building the stadium first and taking time to build your players for the long haul

they'll be competitive very quickly

hey dont forget the bobcats are in their third season as well! also it helps alot to get alot of the higher level teams to get out of the east.

nice read. I got flashbacks

my Bucs were in the same situation. nearly gutted team, and the rest... almost no one wanted to stay. I released so many guys simply because they asked. I had no intention of keeping players who didnt want to be here. from that original roster we kept exactly 1 person ("Rush Passer) and got another back (MD Cawthon). I still keep in touch a bit with the guys who wanted to go. It's a game, and anyone not hapy where they are shouldnt be forced to stay. we built slower, I think, but my stadium was a true debacle.

the bucs are a season behind the Assassins (or maybe two!) in being competetive. you did great, friend. Kudos to you.

like i said before....to all the new/building teams......put any and all money into your stadium first

every 1$ invested is basically worth twice as much the next season.......player equiptment means nothing until your stadium is profitable

That's the strategy we've been going by ourselves, Fingaz. We should have the stadium completed this offseason, we just lack the 300 sections. All expansions have been built as well. We're not far from starting to live up to our team name. (We got a new team season 2 and have slow-building it ever since. (Well, maybe not slow-build in THAT sense, but...well, yeah, I guess it is that sense. We used homegrown players instead of recruiting, these guys (except for about 3 guys now) have been agents with the team since day one. Once we finally were able to stop having to rely on CPU guys and build them ourselves, we just took off from there.

But yes, you guys have come a long, long way.

thanks....

the homegrown player recipe is the best way if you can pull it off

It's too much of an undertaking to get random agents to "buy in" to the team and be willing to take 3 year contracts at minimum salary and no equiptment......so that in the 4th year you can finally pay them and take care of equiptment and what not......

all our players are GM's....and friends in real life......even with that luxury....we still have times where we cant get total communication for tactics and what roles each player is responsible for......even if everyone gets thier game assignments as far as tactics...theres just too many variables (work, travel, women, etc.) that can still make getting the whole team 100% set and completely on the same page impossible

i cant even imagine how tough it is for you (Jack) and others who have to wrangle in agents and then trust that they follow the gameplans laid out by the management. Like i said we can't get more than 90% on the same page and we have every advantage as far as communication goes.

One thing for sure....is yes, we're competing against each other....but at the same time...in 2/3 seasons we'll be scattered around....so might as well do what we can to help all our BBB7 brethern get as good as possible

We actually have a bit of the same advantage you do. Our agents when we started were (and still are) part of our fantasy football league (that our team is named after), just a group of mostly Air Force guys (and me) having some fun and working together to accomplish something on here. Figuring out the game; builds, tactics, etc. as well as getting time to come in and set it up has been the main challenge. We've used our own league website to set up our tactics and stuff; it's familiar and I own the domain rights, so may as well use it , but with offseason and the new additions, we've tried to use the GLB team forum more. (We use MyFantasyLeague, if any of you guys have heard of it. You notice we really don't have a "home city" (there is no place named Big Money that I know of), but since several of the guys are in Omaha, Nebraska (Offutt), that's where we're consider the team to be based. (I'm in the Dallas area myself, but I got outnumbered. ) That last part's not relevant to anything, just a bit of useless trivia. (I'm way too addicted to smilies, I know.)

As hard as we've worked to get the team going and all the effort we put into it, you should have seen the celebration we had in RL when we clinched that playoff spot last season. New Year's came early. It's just been slow, steady improvement. We hit our goal last season (winning record, playoff spot), this season the goal is to try to host a playoff game for the first time, and next year we try to go for the whole enchilada (or at least the conference championship. We might even settle for a quick appearance in Jimo's Top Five. ) We figure if we keep the goals realistic and aim a bit higher each season, we'll get there eventually, and it'll all be worth it.

Sounds more like you *can* relate. Yeah, I remember that one, we were happy for you guys.

Not so much a fan of your second win, though.
