On May 9, 2008 The Montreal Royale of Canada AAA#1 came to terms on the release of Blake Mceuen because of his dissatisfaction with his position on the depth chart.
Mceuen is quoted as saying "give me a shot, you told me i would be your starter and now im riding the pine. there are too many teams that need a starting lt/rt. i appreciate the oppurtunity, but 18 plays just isnt going to get me the xp i need. i would appreciate you releasing my guy!"
The owner of the Royale had this to say "I regret that he felt this way and also apologize for promising a starting spot. It was not my intention to be deceitful but as a team that is in a rebuilding season, I wanted to go with different looks to see what worked. He did start in the 1st game and to the point where he became disgruntled we had only played 3 games. I also assured him that as the season progressed he'd get more time and likely start several games down the line."
The owner also stated that the player was signed to a 1 year deal and offered to work on a trade deal to move him to a better situation but was never contacted with a response.
The only communication between owner and player for nearly a week? "Do you still want to be released or will you play out the term of your contract?"
The response is obvious.
