How the West was Won - Week Nine
Here we go, my first prediction page put up after my team lost. Hard to believe. Congrats to INYA ONYA. OK, back to business.
As always, these are in fun; don't take offense if I rip on your team. OK, here we go, working from the top down:
#1 Big Whiskey Assassins vs #15 Seattle Grand Cru, at Grand Cru Stadium:
Big Whiskey shut out the Lumberjacks and gave them the hangover without the joy of getting drunk first. Seattle got split by the Isotopes.
Ray Charles could see who's walking away with this one. Big Whiskey 217-10.
#12 Nashville Isotopes vs #2 INYA ONYA, at IROC Stadium:
Nashville picked up a rare win, beating up on Seattle. INYA ONYA hit with three big plays late to get them past Big Money.
After surviving one of the tougher three-game stretches in the west (Phoenix, Lexington, Big Money) the still-undefeated INYA ONYA get a bit of a breather before the showdown with Big Whiskey. INYA ONYA 81-21.
GAME OF THE WEEK: #5 Big Money Dynasty vs #3 Oregon Orangutans, at The Zoo:
Big Money fell victim to the big play against INYA ONYA. Oregon lost an even closer game to Lexington.
I was all set to call this for Oregon before the loss to the Lynx. Now, it's looking like a bit of a toss-up. Both teams are coming off losses after five-game winning streaks. As is the case with upper-level teams this season, though, Oregon's backups are of a higher level than Big Money's backups. Just like INYA ONYA, The Orangutans pull away late and throw more feces at the Dynasty's private jet as they head back home. Oregon O. 41-28.
#4 Lexington Lynx vs #16 Lubbock Red Raiders, at Jones Stadium:
Lexington won a nailbiter agains the fancy-named-monkeys. Lubbock...well, they got three touchdowns in the same game, so that's gotta count for something.
After the INYA ONYA/Oregon Orangutans double-dip, Superman's Nemesis gets a glorified bye week. Lexington Lynx a couple of wins together (sorry, couldn't resist), 98-17.
#6 Phoenix Scorpions vs #11 Bunghole Liquors, at Brownspot Stadium:
Phoenix coasted to a win over Lubbock, becoming the second team to hit triple-digits against the Raiders. Bunghole got ripped a new Bu...oh, never mind.
This one might be closer than people think. However, if Bunghole needed to get a colonoscopy, they could use something better than a scorpion tail to do the job. Phoenix 51-38.
SPONSORED BY THE LETTER ARR: #7 Baton Rouge Buccaneers vs #14 Pittstown Pirate Hookers, at The Hookers Den:
Baton Rouge sunk the Wolverines. Pittstown fell victim to the Crawling Chaos.
In this battle on the high seas, I'm going to go with the shashbucklers to win this one. OK, that's a copout. May as well just play this one in Tortuga. Gotta take Jack's Boys in this one over Kapn's Girls. Baton Rouge 51-10.
#8 Wellsboro Crawling Chaos vs #10 Oregon Lumberjacks, at Lincoln Log Stadium:
Wellsboro beat Pittstown to slide into a playoff spot, tentatively. Oregon got whitewashed by Big Whiskey.
The Chaos won last week, to keep their alternating Ws and Ls streak intact at 6. This week, I think it'll be 7. Oregon stops the slide and figures out a way to win just in time. Oregon L. 31-24.
#13 Wolverhampton Wolverines vs #9 Gardner Paraplegics, at Cripple Colisseum:
Wolverhampton got blasted from Baton Rouge's Long Nines. Gardner took a three-touchdown win over Bunghole.
Other than their one win, Wolverhampton has only been competitive in one game this season. Wolverines are known for gnawing off their limb if necessary. The Paraplegics, having no limbs at all, remain unimpressed. Gardner 81-10.
Last week's record: 6-2
Season Record: 48-8
