It wasn't much of a secret that high agility was a viable way to get sacks. I am no longer having success this season with high agility.

Case in point: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=352762

A level 36 OT shut my lvl 44 DE out. No hurries or sacks. Other people are experiencing the same thing. So I ask you this. What now? Teams need a pass rush or they will get torn apart by the passing game.

Is the answer more strength? My DE's strength is in the 60s raw. Is it more Speed? His speed is 70. Is it even more agility? His agility is over 90 atm, and he's missing several equipment points. Is it tactics? I only set my tactics to evasive.

I don't want 10 sacks a game. I would be extremely please with 16 sacks and 20 hurries for an entire season against even competition. If I faced even competition for 16 games this season I would end up with zero sacks and 1-2 hurries.

I say stick with agility but bump strength up to the cap.

I just played against an OT with 55 AGI (15 points lower than my DE) and 49 Speed (38 points lower), no custom equipment, and no more than 1 point in any Special Abilities. Completely shut down my guy.

He had a 16 point edge in STR, but no pancakes. How easy it is for an OT to get their AGI softcapped and shut down speed rushers.

From what I gather from reading other forums there are DEs out there with 90+ speed and 90+ agility, and they needed to be brought back into line. The changes that were made to effect those players totally destroyed average builds like mine.

Do you disagree with that sentence, or do you think there was no need to tone them down?

To be honest I don't really know. It's just what I can gather from bits and pieces off the bajillion DE threads on the main GLB forum.

my DE is lvl 27 in a BBB league and is and agility based build.

last year against competition that was mostly a few levels higher, he lead his conference in sacks and hurries (25 and 35...so not huge numbers)

this year, because he boosted where many hadn't, he's right around the league average of 27th lvl and he's got 90+ agi and 60+ speed and he's much less effective (9 sacks so far, but pretty much none against any tough LTs).

admittedly, i've sacrificed strength and tackling thusfar...but i'm not sure if adding strength now is the way...or perservering with his build-plan (since it may be too late to change now anyways...)and going to 100+ agi and 70+ spd...

...or now do i need more strength to reactivate his rushing?

lost.

If I had the cash to really experiment with my equipment I might could answer this in a couple weeks, but it would take millions of fake money, and 1800 flex. I would really like to try taking all my agility gear and turning it into speed, and then see how that works in a sim against a good LT. If that doesn't net results then I would switch to strength gear to test that. The one nice thing about my average/crappy build is that I can get one attribute into the 90s with equipment.

I have a high speed guy (somewhat, there's definitely faster) level 30 with 80 speed and 63 agility. I'm not sure when the nerf was, but in the first game this season, against a similarly leveled LOT on a strong team he had 4 sacks. Since then he's had some success...

4 sacks against this guy: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=317817
6 sacks against a level 26 (closed build)
3 sacks against a level 33 (on 18 pass plays!)
6 sacks against this guy: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=314019

and then in the last game I got completely shut out against a group of level 26's (4 of them to be precise)

it remains to be seen how he'll do for the rest of the season... but I would like to think a high speed high agility build will still be effective.

[Apologies to the guys who I've exposed to have open builds; if you don't want them seen, close them]

my DE is only lvl 19, soft capped speed, agility, strength, all equipment in agility and he was shut down bye a lvl 5 OT in 231-7 blowout. in this game we had _no_ sacks from the DE position.

to this point i was frustrated because bort ruined the game for all the DE owners. awful decision because of those whiners with the 90 str- 90block -10 agility-10 speed OT builds.

but after this game i began to think that it is funny.

i have a high speed guy and have felt a similar drop off in production. I'm also at kind of a loss on where to go next. part of me just wants save up my points until someone can tell me where they actually make a difference. oh well...
