my teams upcoming game is against a team with higher levels than us in mostly all positions..except QB..who is a lower level than most in my league..i realize he may have a good build but i guess my team will find out

any sugestions on defenses to force mistakes by him?

Well, how much a QB suffers from pressure is debatable for anything short of a sack. But in my experience, people typically raise throwing, vision, and strength before working confidence. So if you can get even a hurry on him that may force a throw into coverage that results in a pick... he may not recover for the rest of the game.

You say you're out leveled... so I guess it depends on how much you're willing to risk. If you're a big underdog, and screwing up their QB is the only way to win, then I'd roll the dice. I'd run a lot of Cover 0 and bring everyone that doesn't have to play coverage on a blitz and try to get to the guy whenever possible. This is a huge risk though and if you don't get him to make a mistake early, it could turn out quite bad.

If you're not a big underdog, and have a chance at winning playing your normal strategy, I'd just go with it and hope the numbers go your way. If you have a good secondary (whether they're out leveled by the WRs or not) there's still a chance they will have take the ball when he puts it up as Bort has said that the defense gets first roll for the ball on passing plays.

personally, i'd probably lower my coverage distance on the CBs to medium and use semi aggressive coverage. he's not likely to throw into small gaps anyway, so you might be able to compensate for your underleveled secondary by playing a little looser.

I wouldn't go into cover 0, if you are outleveled, the line shouldn't have a problem protecting the QB and if they expect you'll blitz a lot, they'll throw short passes and keep the ball moving until a WR finds an empty seem on a safety blitz and takes 6.

that being said, knowing they have a lower level QB, expect a lot of running. Bring in your LBs close, and have the DL SSs, and LBs play the run.

CBs and FSs should stick to balanced or pass.

good luck

If the o-line is good then overload on DB's and coverage guys in obvious passing downs. And shut down the running game.

If they give up a lot of sacks then try to mimic the Blitzes that have worked against them.
