I actually like this play because of the fact it is run from the STR I and the WR#2 route looks really good if they have the SS in to cover the TE or blitz to stop the STR I OT run.

There is a long wr play out of the pro set were the FB flares out that works good.

The FB always seems to stop when he catches the ball. even if this play worked you can see the FB hesitate

2 plays where it did not work:

Those plays are all Pro Set plays called for the WR and TE, he asked about the FB Flare from the Strong I (p.s. your FB is hesitating b/c he has 15 catching).

I saw the Strong I FB Flare play run in our games a few times last season, but the FB never got that open. It did get completed to other receivers I believe. The problem is most Strong I defenses assign a LB to cover the FB; you basically have to catch them in an all-out blitz. The other problem is most FBs are too slow to get out into the pattern, so even if they catch it, pursuit limits it to a minimal gain.

Here is a successful Strong I Fb flare play however the success of the play is due to the 2 broken tackles more than anything else.
