All equipment is in speed, bringing him up to just shy of 91.

Strength 8
Speed 68.96
Agility 60.68
Jumping 31.96
Stamina 25.25
Vision 31.96
Confidence 24.01
Blocking 8
Tackling 8
Throwing 9
Catching 49.96
Carrying 38.99
Kicking 9
Punting 9

I have the speedster CE and one point in first step. I have two SAs, and wasn't sure if I should wait until I can up my agility some more or if I should put them in first step or quick cut.

Any thoughts?

Catching to 60 or 68.

Really? You think catching matters that much? I have it in the 50s for my TE and he almost never drops anything.

^ notes that this is a WR forum. TEs and HBs can get away with lower scores because they aren't typically covered by CBs. There is a huge difference between a LBer trying to break up a pass and a CB.

CBs can focus on vision, speed, agility and jumping...maybe catching if they want. Don't really need to worry much about strength or tackling.

LBs have to first worry about speed, agility, vision, strength, tackling and then after they get some stamina and maybe some SAs they can focus a bit on jumping and catching. There just really isn't any comparison.

I hear you, but he seems to do pretty well whenever the ball is thrown his way.

Anyone else think I shouldn't focus on catching? I'll defer to the more experienced guys here if that's the case.

WR Speed Addict
20 targets
6 catches
1 drop
11 pass deflections
30% of targets caught

Is that "pretty well"? I'd hate to see awful. Your guy clearly needs more catching and judging by a PD rate of >50% more jumping. Agility would also help...and once those are done it's ok to work on catching.

FWIW - You L34 TE playing against crap competition is only catching 50% of his targets.

Just curious, how do you figure this out? Did you actually go thru his game logs, or is there some kind of Greasemonkey script that will handle it?

This brings up some good points - how much of the "deflections" can improve with better catching or jumping?

I figured if a pass was deflected, it had more to do with the skill of the DB and the WR couldn't (or could very rarely) still catch it. So I was really going by the # of drops and ignoring the deflections.

Yeah, it's PBR Game Scout, I added it this season, I'm pissed I didn't add it sooner. Very helpful. Just scroll down to the bottom of you team screen to find the program button once installed. I spend 5 minutes looking for it.

29 completions, 2 drops, 17 PDs for a completion percentage of 58%. Shockingly, that's highest for a WR on my team. I thought I was having a terrible year.

My completion percentage went down a small % after season 5, and now is down again this season, at least in competitive games, I didn't include the CPU blowouts. Might be time to start spending some points in catching again??

lolno. Pack is a genius, but dude, he needs to get open. SAs. You have no First Step and no Quick Cut. That's why you're not catching targets. It's because you're covered.

My WR had about 50 catching in season 6. Caught just over 70% of his passes IIRC. Added some major SP's on the boost to get it to 56, and i've caught 82% of my intended targets.

The sample size is low of course, but catching past 49 does help. So do SA's, and pretty much every other skill. If it's long term success he's interested in, then it doesn't really matter which he adds to first (going catching first would give him maybe an extra point in the long run in that catagory). If he wants success now, then maybe go SA's.
