Alot of passes are caught off deflections. Has anyone found that sure hands increases the amount of passes caught off deflections or reduces deflections?

i believe sure hands only re-rolls drops.

Making it worthless, by the time you have vet pts to spend on it drops are rare. hmm

It's certainly better for average receivers. It will benefit someone who catches 60% of passes far more than a speedster who only ropes in about 40% in terms of immediate value, though the percentage increase is the same, but there is probably still value is capping it even at 80% if nothing else takes your fancy.

Calculation something a little like this, assuming 100 attempts;

1st Catch %age________5 in VA________10 in VA________15 in VA________Catches

40%_________________+6%=46%_____+12%=52%_____+18%=58%______58/100

60%_________________+6%=66%_____+12%=70%_____+18%=78%______78/100

80%_________________+4%=84%_____+8%=88%______+12%=92%______92/100

I know someone said they read that Bort said it only worked on drops, but can someone please provide a link to what Bort said in regards to sure hands? I'd hate for the conclusion on Sure Hands to become canon over heresay.

I also read...actually read myself.....where bort says Sure Hands only kicks in if the receiver gets his hands on the ball and drops it (which would make it useless if you take a look and see how many drops you average in a year) ..but, some people have said that when you watch film, sometimes you will see a defender deflect the ball, and the receiver catch it (or not). Sometimes you will see what looks like the ball hit the receiver in the hands, bobble it, and the defender deflect it incomplete. If sure hands worked for that, then yes it would be very worth it then.

The problem is, Bort hasn't clarified that, which is very annoying.

I have to be honest, this is more of Bort's double talk. If a WR would drop it (after bobbling it) it would work. So what if the WR bobbles it and it gets deflected? He never answers that!

Nope, he doesn't. I understand his coding should be a secret, but something like this he should answer....which he doesn't, no matter how many times it is asked.

Something like this?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=311873&pbp_id=1825898

In the replay it seems like the ball was deflected while the TE was bobbling the ball however he still managed to catch it after that. Apparently the guy has spent some VA points in Sure Hands and I think that he caught 3 other deflected passes in that game... is it because of the VA?

IMO things would be much more simple if we would see drops after deflected passes. Right now I've only seen incomplete or catches after succesful deflections... is it because deflected passes are very easy to catch when they're in range? In that case Sure Hands wouldn't be that useful.

I still have my doubts so right now I observe... I haven't spent my VA pts yet

I think we have all caught deflected balls at one point or another, but how does that work in the coding? Shouldn't the WR have no chance to catch a deflected ball?

The way it must work then:

Defender rolls and if he hits a certain number on the roll he deflects the pass. (I don't know if certain ranges of numbers increase how FAR the ball was deflected to reduce the chance the WR has to catch it)

WR rolls and if the defender deflected the ball, perhaps the WR has to roll a significantly higher number in order to catch the ball (maybe a 90+ versus an undeflected 50+, if he is over 90 he catches the deflection, if not it remains a deflection?)

It could work like this, but then would Sure Hands be worth it's price for catching deflected passes?

Would you invest 10 VA pts to get a 50% chance to get a reroll that has 90% chance of failing?
