After some thought, I like this new nerf. Yeah, our stats are bad and field position is harder to control, but I feel it's more realistic.

My punter is not the greatest but he's still pretty good and I averaged 43.5 yards per punt. There were like two kicks under 40 yards, but I had a 57 yarder.

I feel that this is much more realistic because the best punters (aka NFL punters) should be averaging at the top 40s and maybe the 50s. Mine was near the bottom of the league, which is about right for his ability

My first game sucked, but after that I used some points in strengh and it worked out a couple of times.

I like the changes to the kicking game. Even bad kickers were getting 50%+ touchbacks and this was basically eliminating the return game. Now the best kickers are getting 20-30% touchbacks which is still a weapon if you can eliminate a return or two every game (which takes away a scoring opportunity and makes them go 80 yards)....so now folks have to decide if they want to build a reliable kicker vs a kickoff specialist or make a jack of all trades.

The nerf seems like it improved the basic kicking abilities.

I may not be kicking it out of the endzone, but I haven't missed any extra points or short fieldgoals either.

Someone who posted in another thread summed it up best - it's complete shit that a kicker can make a 53 yard field goal and have kickoffs go the same distance/shorter than that regularly. 60-70 yard kickoffs should be the norm, deep and returnable, not shallow and returnable. Every time I bring that point up I get it thrown back in my face as whining about not having touchbacks. I don't give a shit about touchbacks, I give a shit about opponents starting from their own 40 every possession. There's a happy medium in there somewhere.

I wouldn't be complaining if I had 43.5 yards per punt... I'm complaining because I've only had 1 punt over 40 yards

There is....my guy is averaging 65 yards/kickoff this season. No problems. He's is just starting his 6th season. That seems about right.

Punters seemed to improve today? South Texas Thunder kicked a 51 yard punt out of bounds at our 0.5 yard line. Sickest punt I've ever seen, especially considering the nerf.

That said, our punter is still kicking 45+ yards, too.

Maybe you should build a better punter with more points in strength and SAs and then come back here...

Only guys like Coffin Corner and other very high level dudes should be getting a high 40s average
