My team is getting scored on quite a bit in the 4th quarter of every game. We had a prevent defense given a 14-50 point lead late in the game, but that didn't work. Now I didn't even bother to adjust and that definitely doesn't work. What have you guys found that works? I currently just set up a 3-2-6, cover 2 formation if we are leading by more than 14 in the 4th quarter....is that acceptable?

Depth/Stamina/Confidence? How are you in that department outside of just the defensive AI decisions?

"Dance with the girl that brung ya."

There's no need to back off. Players no longer need to worry about the next game as energy returns to 100 every time. Also, if something is working, there's almost no reason to believe it will stop working just because the scoreboard changes to the 4th quarter.

I have heard the only reason to go into a prevent D is to lose. I know that I dont use one because my DC says if it aint broke dont fix it. If your norman D works keep it going!

Prevent defense = prevent the win for your team.

An actual prevent defense should only be used in last minute hail mary situations.. having several guys play completely behind the WR in a situation where they can't possibly catch and run for a TD.. That's so rare that you wouldn't even need to output it really.

Playing a technical prevent defense is not a bad idea at all IF you have the roster for it. And by technical I mean running a quarter D cover 2 with 7 DBs, but still keeping coverage tight. It sounds like that's what you're trying, but maybe a 3-2-6 isn't the best idea. I'd go for a 3-1-7 true quarter, cover 2 man - short to medium coverage since you have five adequate CBs.

The difference is the actual GLB prevent basically concedes yards a plenty to stop the score eventually..and it doesn't make any more sense in GLB than it does in real life. The technical prevent is more like a "prevent the pass" strategy. You can get gouged by a run, but if they're going to pass who cares? And if they eat up clock running, again.. not a big deal with a lead.

You can basically use that philosophy anytime you figure it's a virtual certainty that they'll pass.
