Against a Weak I offensive set, my defense is set to 4-2-5, Cover 3, Man to Man, LB were shifted to the strong side, play focus is balanced with five players blitzing (LOLB, MLB, CB1, FS, SS).

Below are two different plays but using the same formation.

If you watch this play WR2 is covered by the SS, FS covers the TE and WR1 is covered by both the CB1 and MLB.

But on this play the SS is lined up behind the LDE. Then the MLB is stuck in the middle behind the DT and NT and ahead of the LOLB.

Why is the defense lined up differently?

I used the link below to determine what type of I formation to set my defense.

It's because on the 2nd play the TE stays home to block. The Defense knows that before the snap and neglects him (doesn't make sense, but that's how it is right now.

Now the most important thing: Do you have any idea how insane this defense is? You want to play a cover 3 (3 deep zones) with man coverage up front. But who is supposed to cover? you only have 11 defenders!

Why is it lined up differently? It has to be your AI, you must have 2 different outputs for a weak-I offensive set

When the TE is on the Left-side of the line, he will NOT go into a passing route. As bashman stated, the D knows this and doesn't put him into the man-to-man scheme. If he was going into a route, it would look like the first play.

And *whew* that's a jailbreak blitz that puts you in a bad way if you don't immediately hit that QB. That's 9 players in. All that's left is your 2nd and 3rd ranked CB's that have the energy to be in on that play.

I only have one output for defending I formations.

I shouldn't have blitzed the CB2 because it left the WR2 uncovered. Even if the TE lines up on the right side the FS should take care of him.
