For me, missed Tackles are one of the most frustrating things that can happen to a Safety. So I’m trying to decide how much I need to work on my FS’s tackling related skills for next season. Here are my stats, and I’d be curious to see what other people’s looked like.
25 games
10 Missed Tackles
2 Max per game, .4 average
8 on Rushing plays
2 on Passing plays
4 before halftime
6 after halftime
The crucial stat for me is that only two of those plays resulted in real breakaways. Most of my MsTk were on big pileups, where my dot was often still touching the ballcarrier’s dot at the end of the play. In those situations, I think the sim awards a MsTk in situations where in reality, shared credit might be more appropriate. Also, in both those cases, bigger guys (a DT and a SS) failed to bring the guy down before me, so I can’t feel to bad about that.
Anyway, based on that data set, I don’t think I’m going to prioritize tackling skills for next season, barring further developments. If I do change my mind, what’s people’s opinion about the best way to cut down on MsTks: Str, Tkl or SAs?
I’d be happy to hear other peoples’ experiences as well.
