Warrior General Games

So I finally got some decent advanced equipment. The only problem is I've been looking for ONE of these two, and finding them both has me a little confused. Looking for advice on which one to pick up for my power back.

Superior Pink Gloves
+1 speed
+1 First Step SA
Purchase: $41100

Superior Blue Shirt
+1 Power Through SA
Purchase: $30000

I would think either one of these would be better than what I already have.

Current advanced equipment (level 3, 24 bonus points invested):

Superior Grey Gloves
+3 strength
Break tackle chance +9%


Thoughts? I don't imagine its worth upgrading/equipping more than one piece of advanced equipment is it?

I would say the first one because it gives you an SA that you don't normally have access to.

I believe you can only have one piece of AE on at a time.

Well, I do have access to First Step, but it's in the elusive back tree in the third position. This means to upgrade it I'll have to first upgrade the other abilities, which are kind of a bit of a waste for power backs.

I didn't know you could only wear one piece of AE at a time. Hm.

No you can have up to 4 at a time. Good luck upgrading all of them though.

Oh you're right, sorry. I was thinking about "Change Direction" which is the SA I am looking for to give my elusive HB.

For a power back, power through is a better piece and a better value since it's further down the tree. IMO, first step is not overly useful unless you also invest in quick cut, which I think is important for all backs anyway. You could go either way, but I'd roll w/ power through. I like break tackle chance too. You are doing some lucky shopping there!

Yeah, only problem is now I have too MANY options! A nice problem to have, I suppose. But I really am scratching my head on this one.

If I'm deciding between Power Through and the break tackle percentage it's really hard to say when you're just guessing with what the break tackle percentage is with Power Through. And, if I understand correctly, Bort has said that the bonus SA give you get smaller each level up. My Power Through is pretty high already, while my First Step is currently only at 2. So if this is accurate then I'd get more out of First Step than I would Power Through. And I wouldn't have to waste SPs to upgrade the first two in the elusive back tree.

Yeah, if your power through is high then first step would be better, but you may think about keeping what you have (although +1 speed is a nice bonus as well.)

I have a +2 strength, +1 first step sitting in my store that I plan on using next season for my powerback.

Id go for he break tackle percentage. I think that percentages are much more consistent then SA's

I've been shopping for a 5% break tackle chance...

I'm still very much undecided. I think I'm leaning against Power Through (which sounds weird to say) just because the increase is smaller the higher the number. So it seems to make sense that my current equipment (at 9% break tackle currently) will always go up by 2% increments. Now, the real question is what the percentage of break tackle is from, say, 8 Power Through to 9 or 11 to 12.

First Step still has merit as it's difficult for Power Backs to get moving, which means the defense can key in on the play and LBs and DBs can attack him quicker, which could lead to smaller gains or even TFL.

First step only works when you are at a dead stop (or very close to it) so it's not quite as useful for a powerback since he will generally only use it at the beginning of the play. Since you have invested heavily in the PB SA's, the 9% break tackle is actually pretty good equipment (and it does go up 2% with each upgrade).

Personally, I like First Step. When it triggers, you can be in the secondary before the LBs get up to speed and just bowl over the dbacks.
