As Ray Griffin crossed the goal line for the 2nd time in the game he looked into a TV camera and proceeded to fold his arms and extend them out as if to say “It’s over!” and he was right. The Gulf State Demons running backs ran all over the Cleveland defense as the Demons shutout the visiting Cleveland Stingers 30-0.
While the Gulf State defense has yet to record a sack this season, they still got tremendous pressure on Stingers QB Lil Flutie and Joe Street. Star NT Junior Dredd had a forced fumble on the 3rd play of the game, FS Brian Sharper had an interception, and CB YouGot Pwned had 4 PDs. I had a chance to talk to Sharper about his 1st INT of the season and heres what he had to say, “Man I can’t take all the credit for it. Dredd did a great job getting in the QBs face and I saw [Lil] Flutie’s eye get as big as watermelons from where I was, and he just threw it to avoid getting sacked, but sometimes its better to be sacked than picked, and that what I made him regret.”
While Demons QB Kristian Klausen was sub-par throwing the ball (7/16 55 yards 0/0), passing the ball wasn’t at a premium. Star Demon RB Speeed Racer had 145 yards on 25 carries and no touchdowns, and unsung hero FB Ray Griffin made the most of his carries going for 24 yards on 9 carries and 2 touchdowns. “I just took the ball and kept running. Im used to not getting very many yards in a game, but when I get two touchdowns in one game? It’s a very special moment for me.”
Head Coach sgtjayb was not available for comment.
The Gulf State Demons jump in the USA BBB #15 Eastern Conference Standings to 7th, while the Cleveland Stingers fall to 13th.
