Obviously I am slow building this TE to be a receiving TE, question I have is should I cap speed or agility first. I have 36 SP so I can cap one of them right now, but I cannot decide which is better to start with and would appreciate any input you guys could give me.

Neither. I would cap catching first and then vision.

Speed
+ Agility
+ Catching
+ Route Run
= You Win

Agility > Speed > Vision > Catching.

Catching is NOT that important of a stat to be the first soft capped.

From level 1-22, catching and vision automatically get +.5 each level up. Speed and agility get a measley .166. Quite honestly, it makes immensely more sense to cap catching and vision (and even strength if you want) before speed and agility.

From that perspective, sure.

Catching is still near a worthless stat though, considering about 40 Catching is where you'll notice almost nil on dropping passes.

My TE had the highest amount of Catching for awhile ( 68 before I reworked equipment, unfortunately I cannot change the CE without losing FP for it. >< ) You will not notice a difference in Catching beyond 40. I wasted waaaaay too many SPs on Catching.

I'd worry about Strength, Vision, Speed, Agility, and even Carrying/Blocking over Catching honestly.

What if catching helps you pull down poorly thrown balls...

I'm capping catching, then vision, and training speed and agility for a looooong time on my slowbuild TE.

82 catching, caught x6 more passes than you, and if you had caught the same amount, you would've dropped twice as many as him.

Catching not only helps prevent drop passes but it helps get passes that are deflected or poorly thrown. The key for all receiving TEs is to get catching up then work on agility. Vision helps receivers as well but I'm not sure if capping it is as usual as catching even if you gain .5 for every level up before lvl 22. If you want purely for the .5 I'd cap strength over vision but most TEs are quite balanced regardless if they want to optimize.
