1. Florida 11-0. The played an instant classic against the undefeated Dragons and came out on top in what was arguably the best game in the league all season long. If they can beat the Reapers, they will be 16-0.
2. Rochester 10-1. Lost an overtime thriller to Flroida. They have the Alexanders, Reapers and Pain on the schedule down the stretch, so there is still a ton of work to be done for the Dragons.
3. Reno 8-3. They trounced the Pain last week and have won 4 in a row. They are favored in all their remaining matches and barring a major upset, should win out.
4. Yancy Street 9-2. Beat down a Atlanta team to get back on track after the loss to Reno. The Reapers still have some great matchups versus the Dragons and Florida in upcoming weeks.
5. Bronx 7-4. Bronx continued to roll winning its 3rd straight. They have tough games the next 4 weeks that will determine where Bronx will fall into the playoff seeding. If they can win all 4, they should be in a position to take over a home playoff game.
6. Port Moody 7-4. Though they lost to powerhouse Reno, the Pain move up a spot by virtue of a Teikoku loss, having beaten upstart Victoria, and the ranking experts realizing that Thundertown will probably lose it's last 4. The Pain have a few easy ones before taking on powerhouse Flroida and Rochester.
7. Victoria 6-5. Victoria leaps into the top 8 after holding on and winning a nail biter against Teikoku for their 3rd straight win. Their next 3 games against Bronx, Thundertown and Reno will determine if they will be able to hang onto the playoff spot they have fought so hard for.
8. Teikoku 6-5. Their loss to Victoria, their 2nd in a row, plummets them to the 8th spot in the rankings. They will still likely make the playoffs as experts predict a Thundertown meltdown after they barely survived a meeting with league bottom feeder, Grumpy Knights. Teikoku is going to have to play big against Rochester and Bronx to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Down.....but not out?:
Thundertown 7-4. Though they still technically hold a playoff spot and will likely win next week, Thundertown will get pounded it's last 4 games and drop out of the playoff race.
They're dead Jim:
Atlanta 4-7
Orlando 3-8
Niagara 3-8
Emmaus 2-9
Grumpy Knights 1-10
Orleans 1-10
Hartford 0-11
Time to pack it in for all of them.
Playoff outlook:
While Florida, Rochester, Yancy and Reno jockey for homefield advantage and playoff position at the top, the real action and drama is taking place as 5 teams battle for the final 4 playoff spots where every game could mean the difference between post season, and booking early vacation plans. Atlanta has dropped off the map, they have too much to overcome and play 3 good teams along the way.
Bronx, Teikoku, Thundertown, Port Moody and late season Cinderellas the Victoria Punishers are going to be in a knock down, drag em out dog fight for the final 4 spots. It's predicted that Thundertown will likely be the odd man out, leaving the other 4 to see postseason action.
Game of the Week:
6-5 Victoria Punishers at 7-4 Bronx Black Flag
Both of these teams come in on fire, winning their last 3 games. Both are battling for their very playoff lives as neither has a forgiving schedule down the stretch.
Prediction: The media darlings Victoria will suffer a letdown after an emotional win against Teikoku. Bronx will keep rolling as they have repetedly proven they are the best of the rest in the muddled middle.
