What the hell, I'm bored and can't sleep
#1 Gulf State - the no-brainer, no argument spot. The rest are up for debate, but considering these guys beat the dog snot outta most of us, everyone else should agree. Or just keep your mouths closed and beat them.
#2 Miami Hammerheads - I have them here not just because of their record, but because of the quality of some of those wins. Beat Vice City by 50, beat Memphis by 60. Yeah, they lost to Las Vegas, but I'm thinking they were expecting the Vegas from 2 seasons ago. The upcoming Miami Bowl will sort it out for sure, but until then they're my #2
#3 Miami Makos - technically has a better record than the Hammerheads, but haven't played as tough a schedule. With a rough closing stretch, these guys had better role up their collective sleeves.
#4 Houghton Gremlins - will finish 11-5, have a shot at 12-4. The payoff for slow building these past 3 seasons is here, and these guys have some monster players. If you haven't watched tape on Tyrone Demmer, you need to. I'd trade my own players for him
#5 Scranton Wilkes-Barre Menzingers - I'm a little perplexed with these guys. I pegged them at #2 going into the season, but they've slipped a little. Sure, their losses are to quality teams. But those are games they won last season, and the roster appears very similar. They're guaranteed to finish 9-7 and are more likely than not to go 11-5, so we'll see if it was all a ploy or if they're truly struggling.
#6 Memphis Showboats - Getting better season after season, but might have jumped the gun on predicting a breakout year. Still, they have a shot at finishing in the top 4, and have beated some quality teams. Will finish at least 11-5, maybe better
#7 Las Vegas High Rollers - anyone checked out this roster? In terms of levels, they've got it. In terms of points scored, they got it. If not for an early season lose against Scranton, where the two teams blew the roof off Cafe Metropolis, they could easily be in the top 4 and looking to host a playoff game. 10 wins is guaranteed, 12 wins is very possible.
#8 Vice City - They started season 4 on fire and fizzled out, then laid an egg in season 5. Are they back for real this year? They lost to Gulf State (who hasn't?), both Miami's and Houghton. No crime there, those are good teams. But the only quality win I see is against my own team (you bastards). They have a difficult schedule to round out the season, so we'll see what this team is really made of soon.
#9 Atlanta Wolves - we seem to be the Mason Dixon line for playoff teams every year, which is frustrating. Beat us and you're probably in. Lose to us and you should plan for next season.
#10 Akron Browns - what to say? They have the talent. They've demonstrated in seasons past that they can hang with anyone. But they've had in-activity issues and have suffered because of it. Assuming the real world doesn't bite them in the ass and they can stay involved, they can get back to competitive almost immediately. If the real world keeps them inactive, then they're doomed to mediocrity or worse
#11 Detroit Outlaws - Is this the end of Detroit, or just a bump in the road? They lost a lot of players from last season and replaced them with CPU's. There's still talent there to work with, but a lot of help is needed if they want to stop being an easy out.
#12 Da NOLA Brah!!! K&B Purples - promising team, annoying name. Yeah, they imploded last season for reasons I don't know about and got demoted. (sh)It happens. They claim this will be a 2 season stint in the 15. Looking at that offense, I can see why onepeat says that. They score on everyone, even while they're getting blown out. They'll be a bitch next season, no doubt. Maybe onepeat will start gracing us with his presence once they start posting some wins
#13-16 Take your pick. These are all stat padding games for us. If pressed, I'd have to say Jets, South Texas, Michigan, State of Texas, but does it matter? No offense fellas, and I honestly hope y'all become competitive soon. But the truth is those guys are garbage right now.
