Somewhat of a self serving title I know, but I get a lot of PMs from people asking for build advice since my DE puts up pretty good numbers in a solid Pro league.

Not the best build in the world, but I don't believe in keeping secrets so I figured the best way to give out advice is just to let people see what I'm doing. I have no idea how long I'm going to keep his build open, probably just until the end of this season, but I hope that it can help a couple people out.

Feel free to comment or criticize, I'm always looking for good advice.

Just wondering, what do you do with SPs these days? Speed to 68, cap confidence, more tackling? Insane point cost agility?

Debating that point right now. I have 1 more level up this season (natural, already boosted) and am seriously considering just holding onto them and using them next season in conjunction with my boost points to get to the cap in one or two areas to make the most of my level-up bonuses.

Probably going to 3:1 cap strength then either 2:1 cap stamina + some jumping, or maybe pump vision some more. Not really sure yet.

too bad you can't get the 4 points back for swat ball , wall, and big sack.

Yes, because having an ability that demoralizes the QB would benefit his whole team, and we wouldn't want that. If it helps the team but doesn't boost your individual statistics, why do it?

So a lot of people say it's good. So that's why you did it? You have no personal opinions about it? Alrighty then. BY the way my build looks almost identical to yours 9 level s lower with only 6 less agility. and 4 less first step. and I don't plan on taking first step up any more.

If you look at real football, the best DEs are the ones with that natural explosion off the snap, a la First Step.

I'm not looking at real football, I'm looking at GLB football.

If you've already got high Agility and Speed, and decent-ish Vision (so you don't get the delayed snap count penalty), then First Step is a great way to beat an OT. If your player instantly accelerates to his max speed as soon as the ball is snapped, he'll get past the OT quicker.

sounds good I am still thinking about it though. Maybe I will put some more in first step regardless just to see what all the fuss is about. That way I can see and decide for myself if first step is really all that important. Then I can know one way or another whether or not to use it on Terror.

If you really think about it First Step, Change Direction, Shed Block, and Tunnel Vision are all very important for sack production.

I've mentioned this before in the D-Line Private Forum, I've always wondered what a DE would be like if he just got his Speed up to the 4-for-1 cap (the one around 68) and then filled out his SA tree. It would look like this around level 32:

Speed(w/EQ): 104
Agility: 28
SA Tree: 11-11-11-11-1 (w/CE)

The First Step, Change Direction, and Shed Block would completely compensate for the lack of Agility.
