It's the new fad to build these, I've wanted to since Season 1 and now they have a shot to be relevant.

Three questions:

1) Should I build up the QB's passing or running first?

2) What should his distribution be?

Example:
70 Throwing
50 Vision
50 Speed
50 Agility

3) Is there any way to use them correctly while in a 2 QB system with a pocket passer?

Thanks for the advice ahead of time.

1) Passing
2) Vision, throwing, speed, agility,
3) I don't believe so, I wish Bort would make a QB1 and QB2 like we have for the HB,FB, and TE.

I have one that I am building. Planning on:

60 vision
60 throwing
60 speed
60 agility
48 strength
48 confidence

In that order. Theory being that Vision and throwing get +.4 each level, while speed and agility get +.2 -- I'd rather him be a good passer and have good speed then have slightly better speed, but less passing ability. Not to mention, vision helps with running, too.

1)I would probably say passing. its the primary role.

2) I think there are two ways you could do this. Alot of guys are building speedy/elusive rushing QBs, wheres the power QBs? Strength helps throwing (IMO really helps minimize INTs and PDs as well as breaking tackles). You could get away with using a lot less points on agility, and would be great on short yardage situations (QB inside runs out of I form with even a decent O-line almost always gets a few yards).

If I build a new scrambler Id probably try something like -
60 Throwing
48 vision
60 speed
60 strength
48 agility
48 confidence

once at that point, Id probably concentrate on improving his passing game from there on.

3) Yes it can work BUT, it needs a few things-
a) the pocket passer should have at least some speed, even just 30ish speed with good agility would do.
b) need a really good OC. Frequency of QB rushes should never be too high when youve got a pocket passer/scrambler combination, and against the really tough teams, outside runs maybe not such a great idea. Against 3-4 defenses who play run focused zones, outside runs are a definite no no.

Scrambling QBs seem to be rushing for yards out of the pocket off of pass plays more often this season, so you would still see decent production on the ground without calling a lot of QB rushes.

edit - also being on a team that can afford to pay for two sets of equipment would be good too, have a full set of speed and throwing equipment. Equip more speed for weaker opponents, more throwing for tougher opponents.

Why do people think its necessary to post this every time someone asks about a scrambling QB. You know what they mean, stop posting this shit. I swear half of you just copied it off one guy and now post it everywhere to try act smart or something.

This is a debatable topic and I have had a scrambler since day 21 of season 1. his primary build was in the running tactics, speed, agility and vision.

Things you have to be willing to do when building a pure scrambler.

1- sign as a backup and never expect to play for a few seasons.
2- expect average to poor passing game for the 1st few seasons.
3- patients, patients, patients...

I would build like this

1: Vision - softcap
2: Speed or Agility - softcap
3: See #2
4: Stamina - softcap
5: Carry to 30+
6: Confidence to 30+

Focus on 1 stat - speed or agility to max (i went agility but not always the best)
bring up your throwing stats to softcap over time.

my QB is well below the standard thrower for level 39 but has an average of 4.3 yrds per carry and will always be a better player on a run heavy team.

takes a long time to get a decent scrambler who can throw when needs or rush for a 1st even on a 3rd and 9. My guy mainly rushes up the gut like a RB so i love the fact that he has a 4.3yrd average per carry.

Good luck and always build your QB the way you want to and not the way others want you to... A nice thing i look at when someone is recommending stuff for my SCRAMBLER.... is looking at their PASSER and asking "Why??" - joke intended heh
