DE Contain is a good way to get caught a CB short in coverage i think.
The WR screen and some of the HB screens are 3 WR sets...

Most ROLB's are built like CB's anyway, so I'm sure they can cover the slot if there's no FB.

Not entirely sure if they do or not though.

This or the 43 Man Flats, depending on who's more "athletic" on your team, DEs or LBs. Basically anything that gets an extra defender to start off going for the flats can't be too bad against a screen.

thanks all.

i did nickel, cover 2, underzone.

their first one they took it for a 93 yard td, then the next 9 times they did squat.
seems to work well to blitz the CB3 also as he is then in the perfect spot to tackle the WR...the TD play he did not blitz, i had it at like 60%.

Well built CBs who dont both get blocked by 1 WR seem to work well. I know I sound like a smart ass (which I am), but the WR screen usually doesnt work well against good teams even in a basic defense.

If you arent worried about the running game out of the ace formation, a dime cover 0 will double the left WRs giving you a good chance to pounce on the WR screen.

Seriously, this! The WR Screen was never a factor in setting up my defense and I've seen no reason to change it. You probably either have CBs who can stop it, or you don't, but tactics aren't going to be the primary solution.

If you're stuck with low agility/vision CBs however, I'd recommend trying different cushions to see which work better for your CBs. You still need to pick a defense gameplan that can stop the run however... so I wouldn't modify the defensive AI just to stop the WR Screen.

the hb screen is the harder of the two to defend

From what I have seen, zone coverage destroys it because the blocking on the WR is kind of borked.

Zone coverage is supposed to hose screens because people are staying home looking for stuff.

It's 1v1 blitz blitz blitz that screens should burn like toast.

yeah, like most pitch plays. They are designed well, they are executed miserably.
