It came with just 0:29 remaining in the third quarter of the tightly-contested match up between the USA BB Eastern Conference Maine Cows and Langley Raptors.
On 4th and a long 1 at the Cow's 41-yard line, the Raptors head coach opted to boot the ball away rather than risk giving up prime field position.
"The snap was underway, on line, my foot placement was the same as usual, I just dropped the ball and I hit the sweet spot", said Isle, the rookie punter who signed a contract only four days prior to today's game.
Hit the sweet spot he did.
The ball boomed forward, crossing the line of scrimmage and traveling another 38 yards into the arms of Frodo Baggins, the awaiting returner.
"I guess he returned it 13 or 14 yards, I don't remember. All I know is I couldn't wait for the game to end and give Jimmy a call", Isle said.
Jimmy Isle is the 12-year old JV punter for Minnesota's Rochester-mayo middle school. He's also Isle's younger cousin and currently averaging 36.2 yards for the Junior Panthers.
Isle can barely hold back the smirk as he holds a copy of the box-score from the 13-13 OT final. "He's been sticking it in my nose for a while that I can't out kick him, but I guess I showed him today."
Isle recently agreed to take a pay-cut to help bring in more talent for the Raptors. One can only wonder if he included a caveat that one of those players not be named Jimmy Isle.
