Anyone else unhappy with the amount of game XP you are getting now that you are over level 30? So far this year out of the 800 XP my punter could have got from 8 games he got only 476.

I can understand not maxing XP when playing a weak or gutted team, just because you don't get to play, but earning zero doesn't seem right either, since you get 25 XP each night just from training even though you might be saving your training points to train on intense.

Also, only getting 22 XP from kicking 2 punts in a competitive game, or even getting just 54 XP from 5 punts doesn't seem right either, and it doesn't seem to reflect the contribution the punter made to the game. You need to get 6 punts to max XP, and that is more likely to happen I think if you are on a bad team, or at least are up against a very good one.

Post in this thread if you think this is a problem worth fixing, and if you have any ideas to make game XP a little more fair for punters. Right now it seems to encourage punters that want to get better to play on weak teams, when in reality the strongest punters should be on the best teams. I don't have a problem making only 2-3 punts a game and maybe making a difference in a game, but right now the way game XP is given out punishes the punters who want to be team players.

I've been having similar problems with my kicker. The only way I can make sure to get max XP is to stay on the KRS depth chart.

I even sent a message to support regarding the subject and here's the response I got:

Looking over all your games you usually get the max XP, but every now and than you wont. This is what every position goes through, and it isn't specific to a kicker.

I replied back explaining as kindly as I could that that is bullshit. If I'm playing all the snaps that are available to the kicker, then why shouldn't I be getting max XP, regardless if the number of plays (kicks) is 1 or 20?

Put you punter in the Chart (you could spend some points on Blocking for instance, and make a place for yourself), or put him on a crap team that punts 10 times/game.

My punter takes great pride in his numerous games with 0 XP.

That being said...perhaps a punter should only cost 50 flex.

XP is meant as a reward for "experience" so even a punter watching a real game and getting zero kicks will probably learn something. I guess my real problem is with how the number of punts gets converted into XP, it just makes it extremely hard to gain levels through experience if you are on a decent team getting 2 punts a game, whereas punters on crappy teams will get better than you and soon enough outlevel you. I think punters (and maybe kickers) should gain more XP for doing less, but maybe need more activity to actually max out game XP. So like 2 punts in a game get you 50% of max xp (instead of 22% like now) but you still need 6 punts to gain 100% of XP. This reduces the penalty on those players playing on strong teams.

LostPeon, I don't think the developers have it in for punters, it's just that we are lowest on the food chain. But look how much the game improved by adding in coffin corners, if we can express our ideas respectfully and propose a realistic solution that can make the entire game better I'm optimistic we can see some changes.

Tautology, according to your logic I might as well put points into throwing so I can be a back up QB if that's where I'm needed but this is supposed to be a sim. I don't mind either going games without XP, until I see the punter who was level 28 last year at level 36 this year and out performing my guy just because he has more points to allocate, and can allocate those points based on the experience shared by the higher level punters on these forums.

I punt a little over twice a game. I used to be one of the highest leveled punters in this game, but my team has started doing really well the past couple of seasons. I can not fault my team for not making me punt. I do not even know a good way to reward punters with XP. I really do not understand how you can get any "experience" punting. There are situations where you coffin kick it, but if not you are just kicking a ball as hard as you can.

If your team only uses one FB, have every setting use FB1, and put your punter in FB2 slot. Then in the 4th quarter under 5:00 if you're winning by a lot, change it to FB2 and get your punter his plays :-D.

Stupidest suggestion ever, but.... could work, and not sacrifice your team by putting the P on special teams like many do.

I disagree. Any time you punt under pressure it's a learning experience.

Another thing, punter is the only position that can have his playing time reduced dramatically by things like the offense trying to convert on 4th down, or the kicker getting better and being able to kick from longer distances. To me this means that punters should be treated differently with how they gain XP too.

Oh yeas punters, and sometimes kickers, can get the short end of game xp. When you play a cupcake team you'll be lucky to get 1 punt. If you are on a cupcake team you'll get lots of punts, but as a kicker you get no plays except 1 kickoff to start the half. Something should be done, but what

The better your team the worse it is for you. My team owner has helped me a bit by putting me as a backup for other positions against teams we will dominate.

Here's what I'd like to see:

Punts => XP
1 => 25
2 => 50
3 => 65
4 => 80
5 => 95
6+=>100

Share your comments, and if we can get some sort of consensus I can post it in the suggestions forum and see if we can get something done about it.

I'd have no problems with that Shiner. Being a punter on a pretty good team, there have been many games where I've not seen the light of day...or only 1-2 punts a game.

I can't remember when the last time was that I received max experience.

Ok, I was hoping to see a little more support or ideas, but I am going to go ahead and post my proposal in the suggestion forum. I'll put a link in this forum and would appreciate it if you guys that are in the same boat would add your support to that thread so hopefully we can get something done for next season.

That would be better than it is now, but I don't agree with it.

If your punter is getting the maximum number of snaps in each game you should get the maximum amount of XP per game. Any other player getting them maximum number of snaps at their position would get full xp, so why should punters be any different?

Punter XP should not be based on a set number of punts per game because there are too many factors that determine the number of chances to punt you'll even get. It should be based on the number of punts in each game. You punt 4 of 4 punts in a game, 100% xp, 7 of 7, 100%, 1 of 1, 100% and so on.
