My lvl 30 DE doesn't do anything and pretty much never has. Just wondering if anyone has any idea what is wrong with him.

Agility: 67.94 (89.54)
Jumping: 21.4
Stamina: 32.4
Vision: 49.73
Confidence: 20.4
Blocking: 15.4
Tackling: 32.54

He has 9 sacks. That's not great but it is productive. Your speed is somewhat slow work on that.

All of my sacks came against CPU OTs in blowouts though.

Well, for me personally I do not think agility is the way to go. I think high agility with even higher speed is the best way. I have a high agility DE and hes had some success but nothing to brag about. I also think strength is pretty much useless as far as pass rushing goes.

I'd go with speed and TV. I'm also not a big fan of putting 100% of equipment on agility.

Equipment is fine. Need to up FS and a few more in TV. Train blocking to about 20 and jumping to 30ish. Might as well train str while your at it to 48 (possibly mix with tackling)

agility is worthless without high shed block, that's the secret that makes agility better than speed. get your shed up to 8, and t.v. up to 8.

Forget first step. you are going the agility route. get sheds. get first step later.

Basically you've made the wrong choices with SA's, if you'd switch all ur EQ into speed and just boost up the speed/TV up some more i'd say you'd be pretty productive atleast.

If you want to stay agi you should get up them sheds.

He isnt strong enough which means that he is likely ending up on the ground going against OL which 80, 90+ strength. Just comparing our builds they are pretty close when it comes to speed and agility almost identical. The most glaring difference is that mine has 70 strength. A team I was on the owner wanted all of the DE to have 70+ strength for the purpose of not getting pancaked. I dont think that its a bad build. I guess everyone has the own opinion on how to build the great DE. Mine is partly my doing and partly the teams influence on how they wanted me to build it to better their team. When they signed me the DE was only a level 15 and they gave me a chance to back up, get some experience and its helped me now. Its up to you but I would increase the strength to at least 50+ then concentrate on speed and agility to just go past them. Since my strength is now pretty high I dont do anything to increase it. Its mostly just going towards speed, agility and training everything else with the occasional SP going towards tackling or vision.

sc'ing str, after sc'ing sp and x2 ag, is the plan I followed. You'll get Str up to 49 by lvl 17 and earn an extra 3 x2 points by lvl 22, meaning you will not get pancaked. I don't see a reason to put another point into it after that.

True NFL speed rushers are built the same way, strong enough not to get pushed down, but quick enough to be on top of the qb (or chasing down a rb) if the situation dictates.

Any whining about sp/ag DEs comes from O'linemen owners who thought they could continue to exclusively put points into str/blk and have good results. As if football is that simple.

As opposed to DE's continuing to exclusively put points into spd/agi?

I have both a DE and an OT, I just want to see things a little more balanced. Which won't happen until pathing is adjusted and how blocking is resolved is changed. OTs should get beat occasionally TBPH, just not 5-6 times a game like they were in the beginning of the season (especially when these same builds, were only giving up 5-6 sacks all of last season). My OT can shut down a dominate speed rusher, simply changing EQ sets and having the OC call pass plays with a little more protection. Each snap should have the players engage (unless it's a stunt or blitz), with a minimum and maximum time frame for the DE to reach the QB... each player rolls against his attributes, 3 times, each success by the DE reduces the time and each success by the OT increase it... this way, an evenly matched DE will get to the QB in 4 secs, 2 secs if the DE dominates the OT and 6 secs if the OT dominates the DE. Pretty much like in the NFL.

Most of the time, a DE will make it to the QB in 3-5 secs... sometimes they'll get there in 2 secs if they beat the OT at the point of attack and up to about 6-7 secs if the OT mauls him.
