his restructuring plan, if I remember correctly, was like this:
1. kept everyone in their region, unless they did their own legwork to move.
2. demoted CPU teams to the bottom level in their league tree, reset stadium and fan base
3. demoted other teams as usual, if they had human owners. no more than -one- level down, unless the level of competition was extremely bad, such as a level 10 team in the AAA (I know of one that dropped to A, instead of AA... no BBB in that region)
4. this is the biggest change - promoted more than the usual up to the next league to fill the holes left by the CPU teams. no science to it, just however many were needed.
So... more strong teams went up than weak teams dropped, in the A on up for those leagues with BBB leagues, and AA on up for those where A is the bottom league. Here is where they shoulda been harder on the slow buld teams in leagues such as AA, but I can accept the fact that maybe someone didnt have cash their first season, and are starting to hire better players now, etc. would be tough to know every single situation.
This will take more than one cycle to work, and it will also depend on how many more teams are taken over by the CPU in the off season for how many are promoted, again. I am almost certain Bort will keep that part, with the reset teams starting at the bottom. That is too good of any idea to give up. So I can imagine more than two promoting at the end of this season again, right up the ladder.
I can easily see a case for than two teams who were in BBB last season in Pro 3 seasons from now. Before that was impossible, and the gutted teams owned by CPUs weren't getting out of the way fast enough.
I like his new system. I was one of the last to get a trashed out team the old way. My fan base has never been over 50/10/2. My stadium had 3 more sections than a starting team had and the seats werent even bought to max in THOSE. It weas true I had players already here, and a decent bit of money. I can count on 2 fingers the players who wanted to stay. I don't blame them. I didn't want anyone who didnt want to be here, so off the rest went.
In the old system, I could have been a real ass and kept everyone under contract until it expired. In this new system, whwile the CPU owns the team people can get signed off it just like a D league team. Much much better for players who get their team pulled out from under them.
And more importantly, the owner knows exactly where he will be at the end of the season. I had no clue, with all the talk of shuffling leagues around.
Much better, and I'm happier with it than the old way. Not perfect, and I talked too long and gonna be late for Turkey if I don't get movin.
