What might be some reasons that level 12-14 players would be missing a lot of tackles? Several guys have tackling above 25 or 30 and strength above 20. Could low stamina or low confidence be a reason for a lot of missed tackles? Does the team having low chemistry lead to missed tackles?

I know that is several questions, but I am just trying to figure out how to help the players on the team correct the problems they have with missing tackles.

Stamina and Confidence sort of act as global performance variables, as far as I can tell, so yes, them being low will affect tackling. In fact, confidence has been specifically linked to tackling several times. No number is really a "magic threshold" because it's based on your opponents. If you try to skirt by with minimal numbers, a power back will shred your defense, just as an example. Not to mention missed tackles are more complicated than just "missed tackles," because you have to watch the specific play to figure out if someone simply took the wrong angle (vision), got juked (agility + vision), got steamrolled (strength/tackling/confidence), etc. etc. And then there are some where you simply go "nice try" like a desperate chase-down flail.

Stamina wasnt directly addressed for how to notice if its the problem stat, so ill add that if you notice more missed towards the end of the game then its stamina issue (sort of obvious but you never know if you dont say it)

"wrap up" is a good start to figuring the problem. Make sure everyone is set to that in tactics.

Even players with 55 in str/tck and wrap up tackling will miss tackles.

I understand that players will miss tackles. But we have guys missing 4 or 5 a game. That shouldn't be happening. I can understand 1 or 2 sometimes.

I noticed that no one mentioned chemistry. This team has low chemistry because of filling the roster late. I was kind of hoping that it could be effecting the tackling and that it was less of player build issue.

I have never seen where it looked like low chemistry was causing missed tackles. Who knows, it could be different this season. But generally I would choose to believe the simplest explanation, and chemistry isn't it. For a guy with 20-25 strength to "miss" 4 tackles on a RB with 50 str and 2 points in stiff arm isn't hard to believe.

I always sort of thought chemistry was a rather minor thing, it may cause a couple missed tackles here or there but i wouldnt think a rash of misses would be caused by it...seems to steep.

As a LVL 33 LOLB, I've got strength at 50 and tackling at 45 and I miss a LOT more tackles if I'm set to balanced instead of wrap-up- usually the difference between 4-5 missed and 1 missed a game. Causing fumbles seems so infrequent anyway that it's not worth it to not be on wrap-up.

This probably.

My FS misses less tackles than guys with a lot more strength/tackling. But he has better vision/agility.

if you've got a bunch of lvl. 12-14 players missing tackles and you want to help them correct the problem, there is something you should do 1st.

tell them not to start dropping points into tackling.
that will be their 1st instinct, but it is almost always the wrong one for a lvl. 13ish player.

players at that level missing tackles is a good thing, imo. it means they are getting to the ball.

my answer to missed tackles is pretty much the same as my answer to all defensive problems. the holy trinity of defense: speed, agility, and vision.
