Were power backs nerfed? Because the last 2 seasons my RB broke 100+ tackles and did very well, against competition that was higher leveled than him.

This season he has only broken 48 tackles in as many carries even though he is finally equal level with his competition. What's the deal?

Here is his build:

Player Attributes
Physical Attributes Football Skills
Strength: 64.86
Blocking: 14.2
Speed: 49.78
Tackling: 8
Agility: 36.79
Throwing: 14.2

Catching: 20.2
Stamina: 32.37
Carrying: 34.06
Vision: 23.1

Also, for anyone who is having success with a power back, what is the best way to break tackles? Strength? SA's? And how much does carrying help in tackle-breaking?

You're RB is actually on pace to break more tackles than his previous two seasons...

You're both morons. johncu for describing his problem as poorly as he did and ssaints4ever for saying something without actually looking at the numbers. His HB is on pace to break more tackles this year than ever, but he's also rushing the ball way more, so his broken tackles per rush ratio is way down.

ANYWAYS, johncu, realize that the guys you're playing against are also leveling. Different positions have different development curves. HB's seem to be easy to make awesome early on, whereas later on you need to actually have a good build to be a good HB as the DL, LB, and S builds get fleshed out.

As Marcello said, power backs always break a lot of tackles early in their careers when they're playing slow-built players, underdeveloped players, crappy builds, in lesser leagues, etc. Once they mature and start playing against better competition they usually flatten out and start to struggle with fewer broken tackles and more TFL's. You've got to adjust to the competition, you can't just keep doing what you're doing if it doesn't work.

That said, you've got some work to do on your build, you should've slow-built him.

See I'm not sure about getting his vision up. Will that really be worth it? I watch the video and he doesn't hesitate or go the wrong way or anything.

I'm thinking I just need to work on his speed and agility. I don't know what to do about breaking more tackles, though.

I looked at the numbers. I said his RB was on pace to break more tackles than ever. You call me a moron and then end up saying the same thing I said?

That's what I was going to suggest. Strength will only help you so much when it comes to breaking tackles. Get your speed and agility up, and you'll break a lot. It takes a lot of force to break a tackle. Force = Mass X Acceleration. Most of these powerbacks only have the mass part of the equation.

My powerback doesn't even have 70 strength either.

There's more to a successful powerback than just strength, Sik Wit It hit it pretty solidly.

in reply to the OP.... you just need to get ur natural strength up to the third cap man. I think they moved powerbacks strength requirement up one notch. Don't mess with carrying, I've heard of people with 51 carrying crying about fumbles so....
Your SPEED definately needs work though imo.

Honestly, I think the best way to build a back (I've tried Speed and Power) is a combo back. Get your strength to the 2nd or 3rd cap, Speed to the 2nd cap, Agi to the 2nd cap and dump all your EQ in Speed. By 30 or so you'll have 68+ Str, 80+ Speed, 60+ Agility and a ton of SP's to spare. Stick 2 points into First Step and then fill out your Power SA tree. Train different combinations of Vision, Confidence and Carrying and you're all set. I'm slow building my RB this way and it's worked out great so far. I'm only lv 15 and my competition is pretty crappy but the attributes seem to be in place fairly well. Think of it this way. By the time your 30, you have enough Speed + Agility to outrun any D-Linemen, enough Speed to blow by linebackers and enough power to run through them, as well as enough Strength to bowl over the secondary.
