My ROLB does this every time he's not called to rush and he gives up 4-6 yards rushing after he closes in. The DC wants his coverage tactics set to close.

In this he gave up 8.5

If I change his coverage tactics to medium will that help him not drop back so far since giving the few yards buffer will let the WR drop behind him out of his zone?

change your run/pass focus to none.

Yeah, that has to do with your defensive focus and not your coverage style.....still will give up 4-6 yards on run focus if your front 4 aren't getting through/taking up the blockers.

raise your agility and vision, that's the only way to combat that drop.

My pass/run focus was/is on balanced.

I've tried it all 3 ways and it didn't make much of a difference. Slightly quicker to turn around on run maybe, still dropping back tho.

I believe the dropback comes from the DC settings. If they have you set on zone defense, you'll drop back until you spot the run.

So higher vision to spot the run play immediately and forgo the zone coverage?
