So I'm wondering.

Is high STR really worth anything these days?

I'm starting to think that super high AGI with enough STR to not get pancaked when blocked is the only way to go for D line lately.

I've had games with my DT that's got about 90 STR / 64 AGI going against C's/G's with anywhere from 20-35 less STR. And still he can't break blocks hardly ever.

So what's really the point of STR?

You can't push the blockers back. On rare occasion I get the equivalent of a defensive pancake, bowling over someone 10 levels smaller or so. But when I see guys who leave their builds open, and they have 30+ less STR and I still can't shed a block - have I just wasted my time building these guys?

Agility is better than str, yes.

My belief is that str helps you work off blocks in the run game. That's why high agi/low str DEs seem to get bottled up in the run whereas a DE I know with decent str and high agility is a force in the run game.

Only for a nose tackle. I just switched all my equipment to agility for my d.t. and noticed a significant improvement.

oh, yeah... i played for a total of like 2 years, and stopped like 10 years ago. i just remember 'terror'. and that fact that you played at all (let alone tourneys) makes you a nerd imo.

That's fine. You're on a football sim calling others a nerd. Bit of a hypocrite?

I think the OP has a pretty good handle on the ineffectiveness of strength. The main good thing that I have seen is that it seems to help you not get pushed around, but that's it.

I'm kind of curious as to what happened with bull rush. It seemed like it worked for STR DTs in the first game or two of Season 4 (just after it was added), but then mysteriously went away. I know in those could games I was able to push a similarly leveled C back into the QB a couple times, but I have never seen it since then.

Power 9 FTW!

Also, strength has never been king, but it is still quality.

he said too, which meant he was admitting he was one. Isn't there at least a little bit of nerd in everyone posting in this forum?
