Don't invest any skill points yet. Take a couple of levels (it'll seriously take three or four games) and only train your attributes. Once you have enough skill points to bring one attribute up to 48 then dump them all in there.
Pick strength, agility, or speed as that one attribute. You should base it off of whether you want a power back or a speed back.
I dumped all my points into Stamina. I like playing time, and I like stats. what else is this game for besides stats (especially in the D-League). My back gets more reps then the level 7 guy ahead of me on the depth chart. I just got him to 28 stamina, and now im saving all the skill points like supersoul said. Just a matter of preference in my opinion.

Seriously, do not do this. Most teams have 2-3 RBs, and so far as has been seen training stam in addition to level upgrades is sufficient to ensure you're playing isn't suffering due to energy.
