I just wanted to discuss pure Speed backs. I've been working on my HB for awhile, and he started out as an elusive back with pretty even Speed/Agility. I noticed early on he didn't have the separation speed I was looking for to be a home run hitter, and decided to go balls to the wall speed.

Right now I'm sitting on 87 speed and 52 agility. I've gotten more break away runs, but I noticed a bigger problem and I can't tell what it stems from. My speed has basically made FB blocking for me useless. Every play I simply go flying past the FB to the edge where the LB tackles me for a loss.

Luckily I'm the OC for my HB's team, and was able to test out more draw plays and weak runs from the shotgun, which seemed to improve our run game pretty well. I can't tell if this is a FB being too slow, me being too fast, or maybe a vision problem.

Any other Speed Backs notice problems like this?

fullbacks need speed and agility as well as blocking strength.

I haven't had that problem with my 90 speed HB, our FB has 49 speed, 65 agility and always lead blocks well.

Examples of just blowing right past the FB:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=266731&pbp_id=488018

I could go on, and those were all from the same game. I didn't notice this last season, but it is very possible that this was the reason why my HB struggled last season.

It could be a vision problem, as my HB has pretty low vision.

Yeah tell your fullbacks to softcap speed and agility asap. There is no point in all that blocking and strength if they can't use it!

that would do it. 20 speed for a FB. That is pretty terrible.

yeah, you need to get the FB to increase his speed, as there is no other way around fixing the problem, other than that.

Also, for anyone in the future, no running back should EVER have to hold back in speed because of their full back. This is not our problem, this is the full back's problem. Tell them to move from 70 strength and blocking to 70 speed, and they'll make spectacular full backs

LOL

I own the FB AND the HB.

The FB almost makes it most of the time at 58 speed blocking for a 90 speed HB. Her run blocking with 90 str is outrageous...

The starting HB and FB are both Chimpanzees actually. Lancelot Link and Mata Hairi.

I'm slow building a blocking FB now and 2nd capping spd/agi. Later I'll 1st cap str and blocking but I think that the spd/agi part is the important one. I think that well built rushing/balanced FB's are actually better for lead blocking. Pass blocking is another story though...

The issue I have with your strategy is that speed is a ZERO growth attribute for a FB.

Every level you put points into speed is a level that you lose natural growth in agility or strength.
