With defensive tactics set to close coverage distance and aggressive coverage style, this is how my CB covered in the first scrimmage game:

What the hell is going on? That doesn't seem like 'close' coverage distance to me. And he used to cover much closer last season. Any ideas?

Mine did the same thing. Pretty irritating.

same thing with my guy. Play 7 yards off the WR and they throw that 10 yard comeback. Annoying

so it's a sim change that made CBs suck?

There is a lot of chatter in the Forums about "close" coverage no longer being close.

I think its a calculation of speed and agility compared to the WR you are covering. If he is considerably faster than you are you will play "off" more to not get beat deep. With or without close coverage setting.

That sucks.
It also explains why my CB just gave up two TD's in today's scrimmage for the 1st time in his career.

There shouldnt be. If you decide to play it tight all the game and play against a WR alot faster then you it's your fault for getting burned.

first step and change direction are zero, that's a guess.

I'm just wondering how you had 0 PD's last year? PDs can be misleading, but 0 seems a bit low.

Also I don't think that varying coverage distance is anything new.

What about team settings? Can't it be adjusted when defensive AI is used to override player setting?

Mostly played special teams last season.

No. The AI setting dictates how for back the defenders are at the START of the play (both runs and passes), whereas the player tactic controls how close the defender will try to stick with the receiver DURING the route.
