Okay so here is what i am wondering, say i am running a strong I, off-tackle play to the strong side(TE right). Now also say that is the only play in my playbook and AI. IF i switch the TE to the left side will the computer swap the play and run it to the left, or will it still be ran to the right, but the TE will be on the left? Thanks for your answers!

The interesting question for me is will the LOLB line up directly above the TE on the weak side or has bort corrected this already by having the LB's switch up some how?

No, LOLB means LOLB. He'll be on the left side of the formation. If you go 4-3 Cover 2 Man, that would put the ROLB on the TE rather than the LOLB if they're in a standard 2 WR I.

Except that the ROLB's man assignment progression is naturally FB then HB. If you watch a 43 cover 2 man with no blitz, you will see that the ROLB and MLB always double the HB when the FB is staying into block. You would assume that if you ran a cover 1 with a MR blitz that the Lolb would cover the HB, but he sticks tot he TE with the SS. The LOLB's progression starts with the TE and I think proceeds to WR's.

Your response assumes that Bort has redefined the progression of coverage for the LB's. My question is whether or not that has been addressed.

Okay I get what you mean.

Good question.

Well I'm not sure that it matters much.

Check the TE tactics. You can only swap the TE to pass block. You can't put them on the left side and run. You also can't put them on the left side and run a pattern. They can still only run routes off of the right side of the OL.

I only have DC access at the moment and I have seen Bort him self talk about shifting the TE to the weak side. Kinda hard sometimes to differentiate the use of 'shift' at times in these threads.

Gotcha.

Basically, there are 3 new options for the TE.

1. Run Route
2. Pass block left
3. Pass block right

My understanding is that they won't be able to run routes off the left side of the line, and they won't be able to swap the TE side on a running play.

Okay. Could you imagine all of your LB's lined up on the weak side of a strong side run? Scary.

Just wait until you shift your LB's to the weak side to blitz your ROLB and the TE is shifted and now your LOLB is on the line and your ROLB blitzes into the guard.

Did Bort actually say that you can't run while pass-blocking with a TE? Pass blocking vs run-blocking is mostly a matter of technique anyway.

It'd be great if he showed us some test results.

This is almost absurd that we're left to interpret vague posts.

The TE shift option is ONLY for passing plays for additional blocking on the left or right side, as if he went in motion to help block over there.

You can't shift him around for rushing plays or when he's running a route because of the scripted nature of the plays. It would require making sure the defense swapped sides and the route or run blocking direction swapped directions, etc.
