If I carry only 1 FB and only 2 TE, who comes in as the third TE?

I tried to sim that condition by benching my backup FB, and the AI put my starting FB into one of the TE positions, and brought my benched FB into the FB position.

If I decide to carry only 1 FB, I want him in at the FB position, not one of the TE positions.

Probably a O-lineman.
Not sure though.

What I don't want to see is the FB at TE and a backup HB as FB.

In my experience the FB becomes TE3 and HB1 becomes FB and HB#2 becomes HB1. We put our backup HB on the depth chart as TE3 and the problem was solved.

How often does the backup HB come in as a TE during the course of the game?

i often use a WR as 3rd TE and the backup TE as 5th WR

My experience:
HBs get used as TEs, and a WR comes in as the HB

Or what you can do is put your O-Lineman in as the 3rd TE and adjust the energy settings to 99/1 or 98/99 and he will almost never been in or you can now put in special times when they will be in. I'm thinking that for goalline and short yardage situations now you will be able to actually set up a big line and power your way in.

true. just set up your depth chart for a OT or something like that
