I think i'm going to be taking care of this.
seeing as how i've done the polls all season, I think it would be fun if I get this done.

I'm not to sure that I want to do a full offensive and defensive roster, but maybe something like Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Special Teams Player of the Year, and MVP.

I'll consider doing a full 1st team 2nd team kind of deal, but i'm not sure i'll get the turn out i want if i do that.

Thanks for the effort Yeti on the polls and if you do the All League Players. As you already know, regardless of how much effort you put into it some people on here will bitch about something.

Again, thanks for the rankings/polls throughout the season. I personally enjoy reading them.

Anybody can vote.

Anybody can send me votes for the following Western conference players (you get two votes per category):

OPOTY
DPOTY
STPOTY
MVP

EDIT: Unless we want this to be combined?

combined.
and one thing.
you really can't just ask for votes.
i found that if you go and PM everyone it works best.
im going to put together a list of people i think are worthy to be on the ballot.
i'll try not to do JUST the statistic leaders.

If anyone has nominations.
Send them to me, i will DEFINATLY review them.
This is something to post in yoru team forums.
TEAM NOMINATIONS.
as many as you want.
jsut so everyone's voice is heard.
and now that i've said that.

no bitching.

doesn't bother me at all.
they don't get to vote, you do. I just get to put them on the ballot, or consider them.
it makes my job ALOT easier.

Position based nominations (QB/HB/WR/ETC...) or specific award type nominations (like OPOY/DPOY/ETC...)?

Either way is a good idea, but I think it'll be hard to manage no matter what. Very few take notice of anything past stats and/or board fame. This issue is compounded by unequal participation of organizations in the league (some teams will be very helpful and others won't offer any help), this skews the "fairness".

I believe the best system would be to elect a board. Every player that wishes to be nominated will have to post their reasons for thinking that they're the top at the position... the board will than review each player post (position by position, maybe use a separate thread for each position). Nominations should try and make their case strongly (I.E. support opinions with actual numbers).

Say I wanted to nominate my FB, I'd do something like this...

Marcus Alexander Kaye (FB lvl 33)

STATS

Yards
259 total (158 rush/101 rec)
Average
4.1 YPC/ 7.2 YPR
TD
5
Fumbles (Lost)
0 (0)
Broken tackles (TFL)
16 (4)
Pancakes
152
Plays (Avg)
824 (54.9)
Tackles
3
FumRec
3
First downs
16
Drops
1

INTANGIBLES

HB YPC (Team YPC)
6.3 (5.8)

Leads the team (by 41), conference (by 24) and is 4th ranked in the league (53 behind the #1 spot) for pancakes. Is the lead blocker in the 5th best ranked rushing offense in the league. The team's starting HB is ranked #3 in rushing yards, with the back-up HB being ranked at #22, league-wide. Has no back-up FB to keep him fresh or to skew the 0.5 YPC increase that he makes by lead blocking. With the current number of carries that the HBs have, he's adding another 300 yards of offense a season, just by being on the field.

This system would allow players to state a case, but also make it a lot easier for doing something like this. The only downside is that if the best players can't be bothered to make a 15 min post, they won't get recognition... but let's be honest here, if they don't care, why should we?

Definitely easier, but it's still merely a popularity contest. There's far too many players to know what they actually contribute to a team's success and looking at the top stats can be misleading at times.

If you have a half dozen respectable people as a board, then have people nominate themselves with all the important information/stats. The board can simply review the submissions and vote. The trick is finding 5-6 impartial people to act as the board.

Any other proposal that I've seen is nothing more than a popularity contest or who has more games against gutted teams.

look.
ive been doing the polls all season.
i definatly know what works.

Let me take care of this, its a coaches poll.
i will have the nominations and stats on the ballot.
which is why owners and players nominate players to ME. not anyone else.
i review them. if they are worthy.
i put them on the ballot.

here are the catagories.

Offensive Player of the Year

Defensive Player of the Year

Owner of the Year

Most Valuable Player

Lineman of the Year

Special Teams Player of the Year

General Manager of the Year

ill come up with a nomination sheet, which i have been working on, and ill send out the ballots... most likely this weekend when i can stay up all night working on it.

i feel having one person in charge will complete it.
Again, if you have nominations, PM them to me.

Not trying to dictate to you, just offering suggestions is all. Each season things get started and end up falling off. I'm merely trying to help see a decent system get put in place (somewhat fair, accurate and more than who is most popular or has the best stats).

I think you do a good job personally, but it's a lot of work for a single person (at least to get a decent system in place). I would just like to see a system that isn't about popularity (this isn't high school after all) and/or who had the honor of playing more gutted teams (to accumulate massive stats). Nor am I just being critical, I'm more than willing to put time and effort in, to help make a decent system. You do you're thing though, I was just trying to be helpful (the idealist in me, usually comes across the wrong way).
