I am from Illinois, and I believe that Ditka would have easily won that election had he run. As it was Obama ran virtually unopposed due to his opponent dropping out when Obama and the Chicago Tribune released court sealed documents pertaining to his divorce and child custody battle.

Contrary to what people in Chicago believe (including our Gov.), the rest of the state gets to vote to.
