You proved beyound a shadow of a doubt that the GL D will shut down a regular running attack, but I'm sure that's somehow better than Boston running so much?!

Not taking anything away from your win in any way, shape or forum. I knew you'd do that and refused to adjust for it. You guys flat out thrashed us and are the better team...I just find it ironic that Tpat would make a post about how to stop Boston from taking advantage of the game. Shame...I would have enjoyed playing you guys straight up (though I believe you still would have beaten us).

If you want to play us straight up don't try to run the Strong I Dive every play. Also I will post here and now how to beat that goalline D: don't try to run the Strong I Dive every play. There you go, now everything is fair and square. Some additional thoughts:

1.) That is the only formation I used the Goalline D against, so literally it is only effective if you use that same play over and over.
2.) We shut your run down when we use other defense on different formations to only a slightly lesser degree.
3.) I only use it against teams that try to run the Strong I dive over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
4.) If you knew I knew how to stop the Strong I Dive, why did you try to run it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over?

I will make a deal with you, you don't run the Strong I Dive play over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and I won't run the Goalline D against it.

I wanted to add also that the team my QB is on, when we played a team rated higher than us, they tried to use the goalline D against us. We passed HEAVY and my QB threw for 450 yards, 5 TDs and no INTs. I am not exaggerating when I say we are really talking about common sense stuff here. If you know someone is going to use goalline against all of your I formations like Golden State does, come out passing on every down from the I formation and you will torch them. If you know some one wants to run right up the middle every time, come out in goalline D on defense and shut them down. If teams know that you might pass it all over them from the I formation then they are more reluctant to use goalline formation against your I. I am intellectually ashamed that I even have to write this stuff out. If you use the same offense every game and never change it you are WAY behind the curve. Most good teams in this league have AT LEAST 2 or 3 offenses they can rotate between and the same for defense.

But oh yea, GG anyway.

Gotcha.

For what it's worth, as much as you want to focus on the fact that we ran GLD VS Strong I, you still scored 24 points, which is enough to win many games. It was your defense giving up 42 points and a 76% completion %age that caused the loss here.

OK, 1st, that was not supposed to be a rip on Philly at all. It wouldn't have mattered what you did on D. my D couldn't stop your O and you deserve the game.

I am confused by Tpat's logic though. How in the world is setting Run to 60% on 1st down an exploit for a running team, or is running an exploit? Honestly, I'm not trying to be a dickhead here. I just really don't get it.

Here were my #s, until score figured into it in the 2nd 1/2:

1st down:
40% OT
20% Inside
40% Pass

2nd long:
100% Pass

2nd Med
30% OT
20% inside
50% pass

2nd short
40% OT
20% Inside
40% Pass

3rd long
100% Pass

3rd Medium
100% Pass

3rd Short
70% OT
30% Inside

How is that exploiting the game in any way, shape or form?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Look, you guys are 100% entitled to run any plays you want and no one has any right to trash you for it. My post was not meant as a rip on Philly in the least. I was, and not for the 1st time, struck by the irony of Tpat's post about Boston vrs his actions.

What I honest to God don't get is how I'm trying to exploit the game. I'd absolutely love it if the pull plays works. Sorry, they are horrid. I'd absolutely love it if the pitches work. Sorry, they are horrid. There are only 2 run plays that work at all. Is it my fault that Bort was more interested in making it so ppl could go to the Mall and buy magic slippers than work on the offense, or am I just supposed to run running plays that are more likely to lose 5 yds than gain 5? As I said...I'm really not trying to be an asshole here. What I'm asking is honestly, what is a running team supposed to do. My #s were VERY realistic, considering those are the only 2 plays that work at all (and, trust me, I REALLY wish that more running plays did and Bort would fix them!!!!!!!!!!!).

BTW, with a mere 26 carries in the entire game, it's pretty damn hard to sell your "you don't run the Strong I Dive play over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and I won't run the Goalline D against it."

Yes, there are 2 obvious ways to beat your GL D. I figured them both out well before the game. I even consider going with each for a moment and decided against it. You do have every right to run goalline, and I never meant to infer that you don't. Personally, I want to play this game as much like I would a real game as practically possible. To me, that's the fun, not using unrealistic plays or strategies to win (again, your choice and it's your right...just ironic is all). So, I didn't and just hoped you'd play it straight up, while being certain you wouldn't, but I'd rather lose or quit than play Madden. Madden bores me and if I'm going to play it, I'll play it with my son instead.

Edit: And Tpat, sorry, but I'm not interested in allowing you or anyone else to play God to me and dictate what plays I can and can't run. I do not give you the right to do that to me. I'd rather lose. Sorry you have a problem with teams running 1 of the only 2 running plays that work, but that's your problem, not mine...Just like me having to deal with you playing goal line D on 1st & 2nd is my problem, not yours.

Did you seriously just post your gameplan a game before the playoffs? really?

1 GP for 1 game, yes....here's a secret...I change it for almost every single game and any fool that scouts can figure out I did what I posted against Philly.

If that Strong I Dive play just comes up then I was mistaken. I know how to force it every single time and a lot of other people do as well.

No, I'm not purposefully trying to force the same play over and over and over again...I'm just trying to play straight up, as realistic as possible FB. For me, it's no fun to do that. I truly wish the pitches and pulls worked. Hell, I toss in a few every so many games even knowing I'll get creamed on them.

As I said, you have every right to run GL. The only thing that bugged me was saying Boston was wrong and then going GL D to take away 1 of only 2 runs that work (the irony of that). I was also disappointed in not having the chance to play you guys straight up. I really was interested in how we stacked up to you guys, but I've got no right to be pissy about that. You guys can play anyway you want.

Really wasn't meant that way...see above. It's a shame because I think Philly is one of the top dogs and I wanted to see how we measured up in a more traditional type game (that make more sense?)

Is that really how short many teams' offensive AI's are?

It really did sound like a rip to me, too. If that's really what you did, then I guess we should just feel lucky that it didn't backfire on us.

The O AI I used for this game had 43 inputs, but, without giving up too much info, the #s and %s I posted above are accurate for this game. There was a little bit of a shot at Tpat's "irony", but I even tried to soften that...Sorry that it came out as a rip on Philly....Honestly wasn't intended as such
