Well, it's come down to the last week of the Freedom Scrolls for at least this season, possibly ever. It all depends on what happens with the re-alignment during the offseason. I'm flipping the script this week though. Instead of ranking the 8 games in order, it's going to be divided into 2 categories: Meaningless, and Playoff Implications.
Meaningless:
Red Bank Thundercats (13-1) vs. Richmond Empire (3-11)
Richmond has slowly been building a viable team in the home of Paramount Kings Dominion. However, Red Bank is not a team that one would want to face after losing to Louisville just a couple weeks ago. Red Bank 175-Richmond 13
Appalachian Lycans (12-2) vs. Baltimore Hustle (6-8)
Appalachian recently dismantled my beloved Freedom Warriors. The have the #3 playoff spot locked up, and get the luxury of having two throwaway games before they hit the playoffs, with Baltimore and Big Whiskey. Baltimore has a chance to be a contender next year with re-alignment looming. However, that's next season, and not now. Appalachian 100-Baltimore 10
Jax Beach Juggernauts (9-5) vs. State of Texas Domination (0-14)
Jax Beach has a playoff spot locked up, with a sliver of a chance of getting a home game. Texas is, well, Texas. This game is the usual throwaway game for Texas' opponents. Jax Beach 105-Texas 0
River City Ransom (9-5) vs. Deimon Devil Bats (1-13)
River City is in a similar position to Jax Beach, having locked up a playoff spot, and having a slim chance of landing a home game. Deimon is in a similar position to Texas. A team looking forward to next season. River City 91-Deimon 0
Alamo City Souljahs (4-10) vs. Frostburg Bobcats (4-10)
Two teams waiting desperately for this season to be over. Both teams are way out of the playoff picture. It's been a tough fall for the former Saginaw Spirit, and they're working hard to build a contender for next year. Similarly, Frostburg is working their tails off to get ready for next season. This game is not easy to pick, because both owners really want 1 more win. Alamo City 45-Frostburg 31
Playoff Implications:
Louisville Baby Kittens (13-1) vs. Houston Armageddon (8-6)
Two weeks after knocking Red Bank off the top spot, Louisville faces a very hungry Houston team, who is tied for the #8 spot with Cleveland. Houston has a slightly easier contest in week 16 than Cleveland has, as well as the head-to-head tiebreaker. However, Houston is not going to want to leave a playoff game to chance, and will throw everything, including the kitchen sink at Louisville. I just don't think it's going to be enough. Louisville 59-Houston 28
Cleveland Buckeyes (8-6) vs. Clemson Gamecock Kickers (2-12)
You're all looking at me like I'm crazy, I'm sure. However, Cleveland has to win both of their games to have any shot at the playoffs. This is an easy win for them, but it does have playoff implications. Cleveland 94-Clemson 3
GAME OF THE WEEK: Lincoln Freedom Warriors (10-4) vs. Syracuse Samurai (10-4)
This right here is the $5 million game. This game will determine most likely which team gets a home playoff game and the $5 million plus revenue stream that comes with it. Both teams lost to Louisville and Red Bank to no surprise. Syracuse lost a tough game against Cleveland and a tough Jax Beach team. Lincoln got tore apart by Appalachian and lost a tough game to River City. Both teams are going to be desperate to hold the heads-up tiebreaker in case both teams go 1-1 over the last 2 games. The matchup page favors Syracuse, but that doesn't always portend victory. Lincoln is going to hungry to avenge their loss to Appalachian, while Syracuse has won 3 in a row. This is the toughest game to pick this season. Lincoln 35-Syracuse 31
It's been a lot of fun writing these up for you guys this year. If this is the last time I write for you guys, it's been a lot of fun. Best of luck, and I may write-up a playoff preview, depending on how work goes.
