Here is my problem....

I have 2 lvl 34 DEs. Both of them have a very similar build. Their build may only be separated from each other by 1sp here and there. Their SAs are also identical.

I have played them at both RDE and LDE, on the same teams and on different teams and the results are very different.

DE1 has been a pass rushing success the past couple seasons and DE2 has always been a disappointment at the same time. I can't figure out why.

Again, their builds are the same, the only factor that is different is their size. They have played against the same opponents, both played gutted teams etc. but again one DE is great and the other sucks.

One question I have is...can size dictate a difference this big? If so try to figure this:

DE1 (the good one) is 6'1" @ 247lbs
DE2 (sorry one) is 6'4" @ 257lbs

The smaller of the 2 is having more success. Oh also a lot more tackles.

So anyways, what do you guys think about this? WE have 2 DE's same build, played same opponents at times, same positions etc. and they have very different results.

I'm actually kind of disturbed by this and what this may mean.

Any advice for me? I'm already considering retiring him if he doesn't improve (DE2).

Size does play a factor but I cant imagine 10 pounds and 3 inches making that big of a difference. The rest of the D-line can also severely affect how your DE plays.

I know what you're saying. It's the same way with my DE and my buddy's. His guy is having a career year and mine is average at best. Yet mine is 4 inches taller and weighs more. I've seen 6'1 DE's have great years and 6'5 DE's have great years. I honestly think there is something else we aren't seeing here.

+1

I also don't believe the sim is the same for each league.

exactly....there has to be some other "random" factor that we don't know about. This doesn't make sense.

Well for starters DE1 is averaging nearly 30 more plays per game than DE2....

doesn't matter. This is based on about 3 seasons worth of observation. not just this season.

I really think that when a player is created it's decided then if he'll be good at something or not. Builds do play a role yes, but look at all of the Tea Baggins clones who don't do anything near what he does/did. After a game I saw tonight and watching a DE this entire season I will say Tunnel Vision is NOT as important as people think.

Oh also note...DE1 has a Pass rush rating of 48 and DE2 (the sorry one) has a pass rush rating of 51..... go figure....ratings don't mean shit....we all knew that though.

Don't think I can really give that up....but last season they were on the same team. Same NT, and DE1 had 27 sacks DE2 had like 4 or something.
