With the new set-up, making the playoffs and winning and winning postseason scrimmages will be difference in determining who goes up or who stays. Either way it looks like the BBB #15 is going to have a very different look come next season.

I think this will be just the change a lot of us needed. I can't wait to get some new competition next season! Assuming we don't tank the rest of this one and stay in this league, that is. Either way, like Roger said, winning is more important than ever this year. I think whoever takes the league championship might even have a chance to promote to AA#4.

I think a large portion of us will be promoted next season, hopefully there will be some familiar faces in the new leagues we end up in.

I figure we are about to become the A#8. By the time all the gut jobs trickle down through the ranks, most of us are probably going to be promoted.

I'm thinking a bunch of you guys might end up in the A8 with us. I don't expect to move up, since there's a lot of teams in our division who are perrennial playoff contenders.
We have the one championship run, and have won almost all of our scrimmages, but previous to the championship run, we had 0 playoff wins, and missed the post-season entirely during the season we were saving boosts and getting things in place for the run the following season.

At least I'm kind of hoping. We're competitive in the current A8 (1 win vs. a top 4 team, and a lot of really close games), but this league was more fun, whether we were winning or not.

Thats exactly what I'm looking for. More fun. I'm not trying to sound cocky, but its just not fun blowing out half the teams you play every season. I want every game to be a challenge. I wanna be on the edge of my seat every time I click the little "Watch" link after a game has simmed. I want League Trophies to actually mean something because you didn't play 3 gutted teams that season to pad your stats. Hopefully, some of this restructuring will accomplish that.

Yeah, we're in a little different situation. This league, and the East, is pretty deep with competition. 9-7 is no guarantee of the playoffs, and only one team has been a shoo-in season in and season out.
The next step up has more top-tier teams, but isn't as deep overall. In the East here, there's a dozen legitimate playoff teams. Up there, you couldn't pick which spot you'd get, but you could pick at least 6 of the playoff teams without any trouble from day 1.

I agree that A8 will probably have a very BBB15 look to it next season. What will be interesting is if the new rules affect the fringe playoff teams from this season (at least in the West), like Rocky Mountain, San Jose, and the Shadowblades.
We're all clearly a step down from the top 6, but feel pretty safe in saying we'd right back to the bottom again if we were bumped up next season.

I think the benefit of this will only last a season or two. It's not going to do anything to prevent gutting or help teams recover from it in the future.

This is going to take place every offseason. This is the new promotion/relegation process.

I'm not. I want this league to be the same and keep the old promotion/relegation process.

I'm assuming there's no chance Bort keeps this league intact with the petition?

Does anyone have some hard facts on how many teams we're talking about? I took a casual glance at AAA2, AA4 and A8 and it seemed like there were about 4 teams per conference (east/west) that weren't competetive. If that's about the average for all the A+ leagues, then we're talking about 64 teams from the A leagues, 32 teams from AAs, 16 AAAs and 8 Pros. That's 120 teams potentially getting dropped to the BBB level, 7 or 8 per BBB. So really, unless I'm missing something, it's the teams that win the first round of the playoffs that are looking at moving up.

Does that sound about right? Am I missing something or leaving anything out?

I thought this post summed it up pretty well.

In each league:

1 x 4 playoff wins - Promoted anyway
1 x 3 playoff wins - Promoted anyway

2 x 2 playoff wins

4 x 1 playoff win

8 x 0 playoff wins

(It will go no further than that ever. In fact, I'd be surprised if many 1st round playoff-losing teams get promoted.)

16 x teams who never made the playoffs

There will be no double promotions, so nobody will be going higher than A8. By my count there are 12 CPU teams above us. Will they get spread out amongst the BBB leagues, or concentrated in one league? I'm sure there will be a few more at the end of the season now that ownership ends on day 40.

It will all depend on how many "non-competitive" teams are moved down. Depending on this, there might be a lot or very few extra promotions.
