I love this play *pats own back as D-Co who designed/implemented it* but I have one major issue. The Middle/Max Backer goes to cover the WR in a double-team and ignores the FB to the flat. Now, I imagine that the FB is lower man on the totem pole re: checkdowns, but this "gaff" could have changed a dramatic third-down sack into a loss for my team.

On this play, I do not have the underneath set to man-to-man. Is that what I am missing? Or is this played flawed with no correctable resolution?

Zone defense doesn't cover the flats.

The LOLB covers the TE. Sure, I get that. But why does the MLB go to the WR rather than the uncovered FB?

Is MLB coverage strictly held to the RB then its up for grabs who he'll cover? Would expressly using "man-to-man" [rather than BASIC SETTINGS] have changed this?

You got to read the answers given.

If you want a guy to cover another guy, choose man coverage.

It doesn't matter who goes into the flats, the LBs won't cover them in Zone.

The MLB is in a middle zone in this play, and goes to cover the only thing in the vicinity.

So, on man-to-man, he'd go for the FB? Is that a 100% certainty?

If so, great.

Thanks.

If you leave enough LBs laying about in Man, one will cover the FB.

It can be interesting watching the AI decide which LB should cover which guy.

You're not the only one who does this. I have Corner backs on my team with sacks on plays similar to this. Yes play underneath man to man. 100 percent certain.

Thanks.

I just started using the CB blitz the last few games. I also fake it and stay in double-coverage. I have no idea if the game would pick up on the fact that 2 CB's would always mean 1 is blitzing. Also, there's worse things than double-covering the WR1.

you can occasionally get screwed though and leave a WR open w/no one picking him up

What defensive play is this? I am trying to figure it out.

D Formation: 4-3
Opponent formation: Pro set
WR's: 3 to 3
Cover: ???
Stack the Box less
Coverage: Zone
Max blitzers: 1
Blitzers: CB2

Any of that right? Am I missing anything?

The guy making the tackle is Lee Ermey (CB). Looking at the roster on the side, you'll see he's CB3 on that play.

And where the SS lines up should tell you what Cover is being used.

D Formation: 4-2
Opponent formation: Pro set
WR's: 3 to 3
Cover: Cover 1/Man Under
Pass Focus:Stack the Box Less
Coverage: Man
Max blitzers: 1
Blitzers: CB3

It might be Cover 3 Zone Under, but it looks like Cover 1 to me.

The original post in this thread explicitly states I did not use "man-to-man" and that's why I posted in the first place.

Cover 1 I assume. I am not sure why I put CB2, as I originally thought CB3. Weird. Anyways, thanks! Will try this next game.
