Forum > Position Talk > LB Club > Ive been training catching and it seems to help get interceptions as a LB.

Im going to be retiring my LB once the owner cuts him but I have decided to let the build out and see if it works for anyone else. (I already took of his custom since im going to retire him) (I dont have enough time for my LB cause im busy with work)

Here's the build.

Lvl 26 with 3 boosts left.
and no custom equip.

Strength: 49.14 Blocking: 16.95
Speed: 54.71 Tackling: 45.33
Agility: 48.71 Throwing: 10
Jumping: 15.95 Catching: 22.95
Stamina: 30.79 Carrying: 8
Vision: 52.18 Kicking: 10
Confidence: 19.87 Punting: 10

He has played 12 games. Has 70 tackles, 3 interceptions(In the last 3 games, and I have been training catching since then.), 1 TD, 3 Forced Fumbles, and 11 pass deflections.

It seems to be working. IDK if anyone else has every done this but it seems to work.

I do play on a shitty team but my player just seems to be able to always make plays.

Anyone else had success with training catching and picking off passes as a LB.

If WR's increase their ability to catch a ball by having good vision and catching. Then as a defender going for the ball, you should be able to increase your player's ability to also go after it with the same formula.

yea I think your vision has more to do with it than anything else altho 21 in catching is nice, I certainly wouldn't mind having that.

Doing that Jumping/Catching intense would play off. Tempted to start that myself, as he is an OLB.

That's what i've just started doing too. Horsecollars jumping is currently 28.45, but the 17.36 catching probably explains why he has no INTs this season. He has 4 so far in his career.

We will have to come back to this after our attributes get high enough to show success or failure.

It works. It just won't work if you are a strength LB. You aren't getting even close to tipping a pass much less intercepting it. It only works if your build is conducive to pass coverage as well.

Its like wondering why your LB with a 4 in big sack but 20 speed doesn't get any sacks or FF off sacks.

jumping and catching is critical for the LOLB. Those with both attributes high will PD TE passes who usually get < 4 a game, and also make plays on the WR. He will also grab interceptions usually on the HB pass but on others as well. Jumping also gives you a big plus on diving tackle. I think my LB tackles with diving tackle almost every other play. Very worthy investment as far as training goes.

Would it be worth putting SP towards them or just train as they are not critical just very useful?

I would just train it. It's better to focus points on speed, agility, strength, tackling and vision.

Also BTW my LB plays MLB. So IDK if it helps or not.
