I was writing it randomly when the mood would strike me and then I'd have to rewrite during the upsets over the last few week but here it is:
It's been an exciting few "weeks" here in 3B9 with several big upsets creating lots of change in the ordering of the lower ranked teams. However, in the upper echelons things move on largely unchanged.
The Leagues Elite teams:
1. Ho Playbook - There defense has now scored 3.75x more TDs than opposing offenses. They lead the league in such stats as sacks, hurries, PYA, RYA, PA. One has to figure that upcomming middle of the league teams like the NY Doom won't stand much chance of knocking them off path. With Honolulu starting their collapse early this year, the Playbook's rating is also on the rise. The only trouble their having is Quarterbackers inability to stay in the top10 in INTs. 5 Honolulus
2. St. Louis Bear Barons - They Squared off against Doom and fought for the right to have their home-field-advantage-through-out-the-playoffs hopes squashed by the Playbook. A very sound victory by the Barons means they take over the #2 spot. Beating the middle of the pack teams soundly is what an elite team does and they showed what they are made of. The Barons still play Ho Playbook and South Texas and will have to win one of those to avoid a three way tie for 2nd place. 4 units of Honolulu
3. Cleveland Steamers - They entered week 12, good enough to pound the stuffing out of any team in the west but, but with serious questions about if they could keep it up in the east where it matters. They established themselves as one of the elite teams by beating RCI but there are warning signs. They put up less yards and were +1 in the turnover game. They drop a spot due to this despite beating the Barons earlier in the season. 3.9 times better than honolulu
4. South Texas Texans - When you're a good team you beat the crappy teams. That's what they did last week vs Vancouver. Sporting the second best defense in the league, the Texans absolutely imposed their will on the near hapless Lions offense. South Texas is a team good enough to be in the eastern conference and will be the clear favorites to win the National League playoffs. 3.7 Honolulus
Top National league teams and middle of the pack Eastern Conference:
5. Radio City RCIs - Their close call over the Chicago Dire wolves didn't instill much confidence. Following that up with a big messy steamer creates serious questions about this teams playoff potential. The word is trouble in the locker room may end up bringing this team back to earth. Two weeks ago they let Palymera score 2x as much as they've gotten any other game... even vs the maulers. It seems this team may have lost it's focus after their crushing defeat at the hands of Ho Playbooks defense. 3 Honolulus
6. Omaha Shockers - The shockers suffered an embarrassing loss to the elite seal team but have since righted their ship with a pair of convincing wins. With the steady hand of edwardwscollins, it's unlikely they'll have any trouble in a potential playoff rematch. 2.4 Honolulus.
7. NY Doom - After a slaughter by the Baron's it's safe to say this is not an elite team. Sometimes having the levels won't save you if your players aren't built properly. Seasons of misconstruction are catching up with this team and the future looks bleak. Lucky for them the restructuring is coming. They'll look to end up in an easier league. 1.5 Units of Honolulu.
8. Honolulu - What can we say here? After an embarrassing 0-25 loss to a middle tier team there are serious concerns about if this teams inevitable playoff defeat will be considered a collapse or just the dieing whimper of a disintegrating franchise. 1 Honolulu (and devaluing)
9. Montpelier Morticians - After a slow start to the season these guys are turning it around. There remains big questions about this teams playoff viability but they'll be a big competitor in whatever crappy league they end up in next season. at least .8 Honolulus
10. The Elite Seal team - They feature a strong run game and a decent pass attack but their defense remains largely unproven against top competition. There are real concerns that this defense doesn't have what it takes to generate pressure on top QBs although their game against Omaha was a step in the right direction. Since they play in the weaker conference it's possible a team of their caliber with finish in the top 3. They've benefited from the devalued honolulu rating and now have .7 Units of Honolulu
