OK this is starting to kick off now, so I'll use this thread to keep WEPL updated.

The match of the round is undoubtably, Korb Vs Lumberjacks.

This interleague rivalry, sees two 10-2 teams face off, just days before they meet in the last league game of the season.

Also appearing from WEPL are;
Roughnecks
Monarchs
Porto
Rocks
Stampede
Scoregasms

From the early games, we have already had a small upset when the Bath Killer Bees beat the Cardiff Bluebirds 30-10.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=195836

Cardiff are from the higher league, but Bath have a solid outfit and are gunning for promotion this season with a 11-1 record in AA#3.

With a squad capable of competitng at a much higher level, Bath might just be able to go a long way in what is possible the easier bracket in the competition, although all the teams are very closely matched.

Nope.

Next season would be nice to get all the WEPL teams involved though, there is easily the demand for it

I didn't even know we signed up. Actually I was wondering why we had a scrimmage against the Wujacks when we play them the end of the season anyway.

Woodridge Lumberjacks progress to Round 2 with a tough fought battle against Korb Destroyers, 'WuJax' pulled out a 60 yard FG, and 5 sacks to win 13-7.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=196438

Both teams were held to under 100 yards rushing, and it was WuJax passing game that gave them the slight edge this time.

This sets up a very eagerly anticipated week 16 match up in WEPL.

Apart from Korb, (who lost the all WEPL tie,) all the WEPL teams managed to prgress without too much trouble.

Rotterdam Roughnecks vs Lyon Demons 48-46

Porto Reconquistas vs Douai Sharks 57-0

London Monarchs vs NY Flanders 65-2

Rohrheim Stampede vs London Death Monkeys 47-13

Multiple Scoregasm vs Cork City Wildcats 44-0

Chicago Rocks vs Palermo Don's 38-10

Woodridge Lumberjacks Vs Korb Destroyers 13-7

The highlights must be ...

* Lyon Demons pushing Roughnecks to the limit. No excuses corey, lack of tactics or not, that dont look good! Lyon Demons are only AA!!!

* Monarchs giving up a safety, probably should have respected the opposition a little more.

* WuJax and Korb in a defensive slugfest that left both side rushing Avg at 2 ypc, and a pass completion of around 50%

Jet Flash, 4 PR TD's in the first quarter for Porto?

Ok, it doesn't really count.

This is the owner of Rotterdam Cheetahs, a lowly AA team. We got Woodbridge Lumberjacks in Round 2. We hope to make it a decent fight. Good luck!

Round 2 Matches:

NORTH
2nd Round: Chicago Rocks vs Aberdeen Angry Scotsmen
Chicago will have their hands full against a very strong AA side who are out to prove they belong much higher up.
Rocks are finding life in WEPL a little tough, but have found their feet recently, will they be able to fend of the dark horses???

2nd Round: London Minotaurs vs Bath Killer Bees
Bath are one of the better lower league teams, and already caused a upset to get here.
Minotaurs are another strong team and this will be a very close game.

SOUTH
2nd Round: Rohrheim Stampede vs Steel City War Machine
Stampede have huge issues, and a WEPL title might be a bit of a stretch this season, but they have a shot at being the first ever Western Europe Tournament Champions.
Steel City are a complete outfit and will run Rohrheim very close, a Upset is not that unlikely.

2nd Round: Antwerp Annihilators vs London Monarchs
OK i admit it, I wanted this match up.
I figure Antwerp are more than able to put up a good fight, and it should be a very close match up, between one of the best of the current AAA teams and mid tier WEPL team.
Also Antwerp always choke in the play offs so the deserve a run at WEPL talent
Possible Upset.

EAST
2nd Round: Rotterdam Roughnecks vs Polk High Panthers
Polk High did great to get through the first Round, and their reward is probably going to be a hiding from Rotterdam, although Roughnecks failed to impress in the first round, something I am sure they are looking to straighten out.

2nd Round: Lyon Dynasty vs Porto Reconquistas
Lyon Dynasty of AAA are possibly the best team outside of WEPL, Porto are a solid if unspectacular WEPL side.
If Lyon cause an upset I suggest all teams in WEPL take a very careful look at them, as they might just be the next big thing in WEPL.
Porto you have been warned, dont get upset!

WEST
2nd Round: Woodridge Lumberjacks vs Rotterdam Cheetahs
WuJax are hevy Favs, but Rotterdam Cheetahs are one of the top 4 teams outside the WEPL/AAA Leagues, and should keep the scoreline close.

2nd Round: Graz Grizzlies vs Multiple Scoregasm
AAA mainstay Vs WEPL Original.
Scoregasms are underperforming a little this season, but Graz are not really setting the AAA alight, should be a close game, and a Scoregasm win might kick start a play off push
