This week, we get a chance to learn more about the very cool Steel Curtain from no other than reece555.
Whats your team, your postion (GM, OC, DC, Owner, player), your history with the team?
I am a GM for the Pittsburgh Steel Curtain. I was the first or second (can't remember) person to join the team when it was created at the beginning of season 2. I do pretty much everything except for the defense. I do the offense, special teams and pretty much all the finances.
I have 4 players on the team. WR, K, P and FB. I had a guard there since the beginning but we are good at that position right now and another team I have a player on was in desperate need of a guard so I let them borrow him.
Who do you see as your biggest opponent? Got any rivalery going on?
Well, a good chunk of the teams in the East are really good. They are tough which makes them big opponents. Let's do a little rundown.
Bootleggers - This team was the thorn in our side for our first couple seasons. No matter what we did, we just couldn't beat them. Last season and this season we were lucky to be able to pull out wins against them. They will always be one of the biggest opponents and I have the utmost respect for them. They are a great bunch
Battalion - Opposite of the Bootleggers. We were able to beat them the first couple seasons and since then, they have improved a ton. Last season and this season they had our number. They are another team that will always be a huge opponent. They also are a great bunch and have my respect.
Purple People Eaters, O'Ahu and Blue Bishops pretty much go hand and hand. These 3 teams are awesome. We keep managing to find ways to win but these guys are games that I worry about every time we come up against them. They always play us so tough it's not even funny. PPE is , if memory serves, the only team to ever take us into overtime. Bishops are really tough too. Our game this year is evidence of that. If not for lucky breaks that we seem to have always go our way in these games, we could have lost many times to these teams. We always just seem to get that 1 play or whatnot to allow us to win. The time is coming that we are going to get smacked by these teams. It's long overdue that's for sure. These guys have teams that are really tough and I love playing them. Such great excitement.
Marauders, Rocks, Sidewinders and Posse are all great teams with great guys. These games are always fun as well. It's nice to be able to watch games that are so exciting and be in a league where it's always so close and 1 loss could mean a lot. No offense to the other teams that weren't mentioned but your times will come. Just newer teams to the league and getting situated and such. I already see the Stalkers as a team that will be up and coming very quickly. But for the most part, we have a league where just about every game is fun as hell to watch and I love it.
Dogs or cats? Maybe you are more of rabbit-kinda-guy?
I am an animal lover. I love all animals.
Biggest game so far for your team?
I'd say it's a tie between Bootleggers and Blue Bishops. Bootleggers we were able to sneak another win in and for the 2nd time, hold that massive offense to no TD's. Bishops, holy crap. I have never gone through so many emotions in the final 3 mins of a game before. That last game was just remarkable.
Worst game of the season?
Battalion.....we lost. Lol.
If you could beat one team really really REALLY bad, who would it be?
I can only pick 1? Lol. Well, we got a good win against Bootleggers last season by, I think, 17 points. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong guys. I think it was 31-17. So that is satisfying enough. So for my 1 I will have to say Battalion. YOu bunch of pains in my ass. I will get you one day my pretties.
Who gets ”mad-props” from you?
For right now, Blue Bishops. Like I siad, that game was amazing. That was the game of the season for us right there. Can't get more exciting than that.
BigMac or Whopper?
Neither. I'll take a Mc Fakefish
Fat chick or just big boobs?
Doesn't really matter. They're all the same on the inside. And if you don't like what you see, turn off the lights.
How many hours per week do you spend on this silly game?
Way way WAY to many
Which player on your team can make or break a game?
Well, it's a team. So any one of us. We all have to play well or we lose. Simple as that.
Favorite forum-active person?
Not sure. I don't come on the forums that much actually. Well, I do a little more now than I did before cause the annoyance that was the Rampage players are gone. If I had to absolutely choose 1 off the top of my head right now it would have to be Skibo. That dude just makes me laugh. And there is just something very entertaining about watching a frog lift weights.
Besides your own team, which team gets your sweet love?
For now, Bootleggers. Since our team began that team was always the one we looked at season after season as the big threat. New ones come and some have gone. But they are the one that has always been the constant. And they are just such a great bunch of guys. Respect.
If you could switch to any team in the league, which would it be?
Bootleggers. Would love to see the planning that those guys do. Would love to have 1 day inside their heads.
I love the name "Steel Curtain", who came up with that?
Well, the owner, The Dominator, was the one who made and named the team. He is a Steelers fan and the name "Steel Curtain" refers to the famous '70's Steelers defense that had that as their nickname. It was a very good defense but they wish they were as good as the 46 defense the '85 Bears used
Almost undeafeated, can you go all the way without another loss?
I certainly hope so. We are definitely through the roughest part of our schedule. But those damn Purple People Eaters are looming in the near distance. As I said, they are always a tough matchup. I would love to finish the season with only 1 loss but if the PPE happen to take us down, I certainly will not be upset about it. They deserve it. It's due.
