I see some d-linemen with it, and they are effective. I wonder if it would help get off these sorry assed tight ends and full backs that can't have more than 60 blocking. What do you guys think?

In theory it would. My guess is that if you had at least 40 in catching, jumping, and confidence it might be a viable alternative. The other attributes do so much more for you.

Bort's confirmed it to be a part of the "shed block" formula, but because of this:

I wouldn't work it.

I think there's diminishing returns on what the other skills do for you. At some point you're going to get blocked no matter what your other attributes are. It's not like your going to train your speed from 75 to 80, whereas you could get blocking to 25 or 30 fairly easily. Even training vision to 60 or 65 which might help would take a long time, and only helps you avoid blocks, not get off of them.

While I generally agree with you, the LB is unique in that he's got so many worthy attributes/skills to pump, that by the time you can get to blocking you can conceivably be around level 40 (just throwing out a number) and still have other attributes that can use work.

For instance, in my LB's later seasons I can see Diving Tackle/Jumping as worthier targets to improve than trying to shed blocks on FB/lineman with 90+/70+/50+ in strength/blocking/agility.

It's not linemen so much as TEs and occasionally FB. And diving tackle/jumping isn't going to do any good when I'm locked up. It is a good perspective to consider though. Too bad you can't train jumping and blocking. I bet whatever did that would be fun

Mine have 20 in blocking since season 3. Meh

when you do manage to get caught by a TE, how often do you get off the block in time to make the tackle?

I think your guys might have higher vision than mine too. I got him to the soft cap relatively late, not knowing any better.

Well it seems that I am shedding more blocks just lately as I kinda posted in the Linebacker Build thread. If that is true, then I attribute it to the agility/speed combos that I have also. Maybe the blocking helps you 'slide' off it just a bit like a DE kinda does. When I am head up on a guy, I don't have as good a chance to shed the block as if I am attacking the play at an angle to the block.

FYI, as an extreme case, I did an experiement with a 66 speed 66 vision linebacker and it was TERRIBLE so at least for those 8 games I didn't waste one of my major players.
