Remember that the 1st soft cap for Kicking and Vision is actually 49. The true cut-off for the soft cap is 48.07, but these two attributes get whole number advancement by levels and there are no decimals as part of the training process anymore.

So, it only costs 1 SP to go from 48 (48.00) to 49 (49.00).

I made this mis-calculation on my slow-build player, so learn from my mistake.

This will be true of any position that gets a primary attribute advanced by a whole +1, but I discovered it on my kicker.

This might get Bort-ed in the future, so take advantage while you can.

This is actually a bad thing, as the 4:1 cap is 67.98, so you stop at 67 instead of old slowbuilds who could manipulate the decimal to be <.98 and get up nearly a point higher. Decimal manipulation was very fun, sad it's gone from slowbuilding.

I agree. Although I spend less time doing calculations than I used to

Puma or Octowned,

When building a punter, is it better to soft cap to 49 immediately or do you prefer to train kicking/punting longer (to take advantage of higher training percentage gains)?

The value of getting +1 in the 49-60 range is worth 2 skill points per level. The opportunity cost is 1 skill point per level, as.. well, you'd get 1 skill point in the 0-48 range. Say it takes you 2 games to level. That means you're getting an extra 0.25 / day for capping early. Cap ASAP!! In fact, I think the best way to do a punter would be to train punting on normal instead of find an intense pair.

Personally I'd make the guy early, let him sit for 10 days and train punting on normal, so you can cap punting at level 2.

This is good advice. And the 10 days you sit don't really cost you much in the end.

"cost" is all relative, anyway. Some people say level as fast as you can, boost, etc., so you get higher leveled. Why not create the guy a month earlier and be higher leveled? Time is a stupid measure in this game. It is about value. Sure, a level 45 will be better than ANY 35, probably. I'd rather have an efficient lv 35 who would absolutely crush a league that is.. full of lv30-40. So what if my slower-built player will get less seasons out of him? I can just create more players. It is about performance, even if you never reach a build as good as the level 60s do in the pro leagues, just sit a few tiers down, find a great team and build a player who will be a threat against your competition.

That is why all my current slowbuilds sat for 10+ days without going on a team, I didn't boost last offseason, and hey look - I have some level 11-13s for my season 6 expansion team that will absolutely demolish everything, for a long time. I COULD have been what, level 17 or 18 by now, with a "better build." Instead, I'll own the expansion league, own the next season, and when the cap is lifted I'll be lv25 and even if ppl can somehow recruit lv30s at the bottom tiers, I'll still be better.

Oops, off topic!
